He popularized G-Funk and helped make gangsta rap (which is terrible) popular along with NWA. He was one of the pioneers but stop acting like he's the literal god of hip-hop lmao.

Eminem has contributed far more, artistically than Dr. Dre has. Also, it's not even about that, it's about the best RAPPER. Dre is a producer and doesn't write his own lyrics even. So to place him in your top 5 rappers is ridiculous.

At least address the exact quote if you're going to challenge what I say.

I said Em has contributed more than Dre ARTISTICALLY. Now that extra word changes the entire nature of the quote. I'm not saying Eminem has had more influence (although that is debatable) or that he's literally contributed more material to hip-hop. What I'm saying is, his contributions are more artistically significant to hip-hop.

Dre has had a large and long influence through production and sound. But he isn't an artistic genius. He just makes very loud, crisp, great beats. He contributes sound to hip-hop where as Eminem contributes something far more important. He contributes themes, lyrics, ideas and concepts. Things like "Stan" and "Kim" push hip-hop into untouched realms on so many levels.

Em also broadened the voice of hip-hop MASSIVELY. And yes some of that was because he was white but it was mostly his marriage of execution and content. Dre has only remained relevant because of Em letting him pop-up on his album every few years. He's a slug. Em made SSLP, MMLP and TES in the space of... four years total. And Dre did Chronic and Chronic 2001 in the space of... NINE years total.

And whether you laugh at this or not, neither of Dre's albums hold a candle to Em's first three. And I'm not talking sonics or beats. I'm talking as pieces of musical art. The ideas and debate they generate, the ground they cover, the new styles they force into the genre. There's so many aspects that make the material light years more noteworthy than a slew of cliche hood tracks with the most worn-out gangsta cliche's imaginable laced with re-tread themes and just... repetitive, redundant ideas.

To say Dre has had more influence is one thing. But to call him a better artist than Em is a joke.

Dre's a pioneer, was part of arguably the most famous rap group ever, made a classic (2001) that any fan of rap has bumped atleast a few times, and one of the biggest and most important people ever to enter the music industry..

Eminem is one of the biggest rappers ever, brought rap to a more mainstream audience, has atleast one classic himself, and made white guys believe they could be in the genre.

All respect to Em, but Dre has it easily.
