Thanks for posting! He comes across as very thoughtful and self-aware in recent interviews. And I agree with him that the accents and the serial killing was overdone on Relapse, he's IMO just too categorical in slamming it.

Nice read but man Em is full of shit about Relapse.

He talks about it there as if he was totally clouded and foggy and not aware of what he was doing on Relapse and he could see issues only in retrospect.

He's just saying that to appeaze people who dislike the fucking accents. Because at the time he was clear as day why he was doing what he was doing. It wasn't some slap-happy fog, you can't be that fucking calculated in your writing and be loopy lmao.

He said he was purposely poking fun at it to not be self-loathing etc. like he was when he was on drugs. Then when some people didn't like that, he gave them what they wanted. Ie. emotional content about his problems then disowned Relapse.

I bet Paul Rosentburg tells him what to say in his interviews now...
