Maybe. But until then I'll be loving it.

I have over 500 plays of Love You More and still love that song.

Actually, I do too. Love You More is just amazing.

Anyways, as for this song..I'm having a hard time getting into Royce's verse. I dunno, it seems incredibly weak compared to all of Em's rhymes / energy.

Still good though of course. Just sub-par compared to Em. Anyone think if this goes big on the radio Royce will get some good recognition finally?

Oh yeah, Eminem's friend with the sunglasses, royce the fitynine. :flutter:

Fuck the words, you don't listen to 'em anyway.

Bruno Mars = Radio hit

We'll see though. I mean, as it's been discussed, it completely strays from the concept of BME. So it sounds like a radio hit to promote the album.

And it's gonna be funny if all the girls hear this, and then check out the album, only to see completely opposite sounding songs.

"But that's alright because I love the way you lie... I love the way you lie!"

I agree, a lot of Royce's rhymes seem underwhelming compared to Em's. I think it's just because introspection isn't Royce's thing, Em is much more experienced in that than Royce. Still liked Royce on the track, though, he got really deep toward the end (really deep for Royce anyway lol).

Honestly too much to read, + the argument will be circular as long as we don't have all the tracks to judge whether or not this track is completely out of place. Based on 'Above The Law' hook snippet and the 'Echo' hook, and the content for 'Take From Me,' it seems a bit of a stretch to say that these tracks will match the BME 'concept' that EmBase seems to be referring to.

Well, Royce had awesome introspection on Move On, but I think that is because it was HIS crew's track. I think he'll have a lot better introspective pieces on his album/Slaughterhouse's album.

And I think Em has a lot more introspective shit to say, I mean what with his career being huge, how it affected him, haters...I know Royce experienced the latter two, but blowing up like Hiroshima hasn't quite happened...yet ;)

He had a lot of internal rhyming in the opening few bars, I can recall. They both did justice I believe, I love the song.

Yeah, not saying Royce was bad, but I know Royce can do better. But, I feel for him on the track. :y:

No, I responded to TheGentlePlayer who said to me "what do you want" and then asked if I'd like to hear them just 'rap about how bad they are'. So that's why I said, no, I want creativity and explained what I, as a fan would like from the project. And, artists.

That's not relevant to if this song fits the project in tone.

richard wrote:There is a concept here - Em talks about coming up, even though some of it was in reference to recent years. The general takeaway is still that the 'haters' throughout his career pushed him further. Royce has a lot of looking back and reflection/comparison of the past to the present, though his verse may be more scattered.

That's not a concept. If it is then you could use that same token for practically anything.

You could say "The Way I Am" is a concept because it's about his refusal to compromise or deliver to Interscope what they want in a 1st single etc. but, it's not. It's emotion. His emotion may of arose from that but, it's introspection, it's psychology. It's personal.

It's not a conceptual track with an idea that is executed and committed to. "97 Bonnie and Clyde" is a concept track.

richard wrote:Have you heard the other singers on this album? The 'Echo' chorus is straight pop, and it sounds like the Claret Jai hook will be just the same. They all have an innocent voice with that broad appeal.

"Echo" is on the deluxe version, not the standard / one which is the 'official' / main one. But, that chorus sounds fine. That females voice has a stronger undertone to it and it still manages to cling to their dark lyrical themes and fit, to my ears.

Where as Bruno's voice just sounds so light and breezy that anything he's on sounds like it should be played on a summer's day with a glass of juice. With a smile. Which is why it's totally out of place on a Bad Meets Evil project.

richard wrote:Would you rather they release the album as "Eminem & Royce Da 5'9" so that people don't get the wrong idea? Don't think so...Old BME songs were recorded over a decade ago, to expect the concept of BME to be the same is a little silly.

No, I'd rather they only put Bad Meets Evil tracks on a BME project. Like Royce said, most of these tracks were made with no aim.

This track, could of been made with Em as the solo artist and Royce as the feature (likely). Which is not the same as them as a duo, playing as Bad Meets Evil. So, they should use some quality control and not just slap things together for the sake of it.

And, there is no set 'concept' of BME, except Royce is Bad and Eminem is Evil and they're basically public menaces, anti-everything, who use their lyrical imagination to take aim at everything around them in creatively comical ways. That's not exactly a concept is it, it's just what they do.

That's not what they do on this song. Eminem is Eminem and he's rapping about his life as he would on a solo album. And Royce is rapping about Em and the whole thing is self-serious and not Bad Meets Evil. If they're going to just do what they would do when NOT Bad Meets Evil, there's no point in even calling themselves that.

I don't expect their STYLE (and wouldn't want it to be) the same after 10 years. I want growth and originality. And that's what I'm getting in their new style(s) on say "Fast Lane". This chorus sounds ridiculous amongst the other dark tones, it'll be a one-off stand-out track just like "Beautiful" on Relapse. It's an after-thought and it's out of place.

richard wrote:Fast Lane wasn't all that dark IMO. If they were a bunch of Roman's Revenge type of tracks, that would be dark.

Take it for what it is - a bunch of songs that they didn't have to nor did they intend to release as an EP. No complaints from me.

It's not about the material being dark. It's more about character. About being in character and playing around lyrically, riffing... and, "Lighters" is not that. "Lighters" is an Eminem track featuring Royce.

And once they decided to do their EP, they should of then did more tracks aimed at the EP then. I'm not even complaining about the EP anyway, I haven't heard it and most the tracks sound right. I'm talking about this ONE SONG. So what are you talking about.

Yay, my first EminemBase essay :flutter: :flutter: :flutter:
