Whenever 50 Cent and Eminem get on a record together, it's an event. Their most recent collaboration, "My Life,"certainly lives up to their collective legend, and the music video is set to do the same.
On Tuesday at 6 a.m. ET, fans can tune in to MTV, MTV2, MTV Jams, MTV Hits and mtvU to catch the premiere of 50 Cent's "My Life" music video featuring Em and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.
The track, which premiered Monday (November 26), finds the two rappers spitting about the pressures of fame, and the vid will perfectly illustrate the difficulty they face on the daily. "The video is kind of abstract; it's kind of metaphoric in a sense, like the paranoia of feeling like we're being chased," Em teased when he spoke to MTV News on the "My Life" video set in Detroit last month. "Whether it's true or not, it's kind of how we feel. It's kind of a metaphor for us running for our lives. Personal lives and from fame, everything that goes with the game."
50 Cent And Eminem Preview 'My Life' Music Video
While past collabos between Fif and Em like "Patiently Waiting" and "Never Enough" focused on menacing wordplay, this time out, the longtime friends opened up like never before.
"Me and Fif can probably go on forever talkin' about our lives," Eminem said.
Eminem has had a multiplatinum career by dishing on personal matters such as his relationship with his mother, failed relationship with ex-wife Kim and the pride that he feels as a father, but for the G-Unit bruiser, talking about his business is still new territory. "The album itself is more personal than the albums in the past," he said of his upcoming February LP Street King Immortal. "Now this record, it's allowed us to do different things creatively. I've been able to come out a few times, more than usual to come to Detroit and work with Em for this record."
In the song's first verse, 5-0 reacts to the pressures of fame, rifting on his meteoric 2003 rise and former G-Unit artists Game and Young Buck, who he feels took advantage of his creative generosity. Em, who has always had a tough time being in the limelight, even goes as far as to question if he should've made a comeback with his 2010 hit album Recovery. "Feels like I'm goin' psycho again, and I might just blow my lid/ And I almost wish that I never made Recovery, kid/ 'Cause I'm running circles with my life," he raps.
