Do album sales actually mean anything to the fans? I would actually prefer the sales to stay rather low for my favorite artists so they don't become mainstream with their music. The best albums this year were from Mos Def, MF Doom, J Dilla, Brother Ali, Royce, AZ, Cormerga, Cunninlynguists, and Raekwon. Those first week sales didn't even top Relapse's 600,000 if you total them all up. So I'll continue listening to artists who get very little recognition and not caring about album sales while everyone else is freaking out about how much money two artists are making in their first week.
