It won't go number #1 though.

Honestly, would you say you like 50's verses?

And still no tweets by Em.

Em hasn't had too much to say for a while now, but HOW he says it remains continuously experimental, ever-changing and surprising. He continuous to play with the English language, his voice, his flows, with rhyming and surprise and amaze me in various ways with his craft...
50 Cent on the other hand, was never much of a lyricist or rapper. Power to the Dollar houses his best lyricism, since then he's been unbearably lazy but he used to at least come up with some dark and catchy hooks that added some somber melody to the genre...
It's not about him having nothing to say, it's that he does it with so little wit or originality. When he writes by himself the attempts are abysmal - he can't write good punchlines, he's a very poor rhymer, his delivery is always the same and his flows are always boring. He never pushes himself or comes up with anything interesting or exciting for the genre or art in general.
Other big rappers (Em, Kanye, Jay - As much as I ain't his biggest fan. Still.), do.
But 50 was never on any of their levels anyway.
I don't mind someone being repetitive if it's interesting, enjoyable or surprises me. Kanye is actually pretty repetitive but he changes his music and styles and keeps innovating so much that it doesn't matter, he continuously sounds fresh. And he's a good lyricist and entertaining presence. 50 just tries to trend hop, he equates success to hits and sales, he ain't interested in art.
I mean this for the sake of the conversation and not to be a "hater" (I'll leave kayne alone haha) but jay z simply does not rhyme like eminem. Seriosuly people, he said in his song that he purposely dumbed down his lyrics to make more money yet he is still the fucking goat rapper. If eminem said that line, it would be the nail in the coffin. end of story. If em rhymed and wrote about the same things as the rest of the industry he would be titled as shit. Which is absolutely insane.

StayWideAwake wrote:This makes perfect sense to me. Most of the artists in hip hop today are "entertainers". Not rappers. No one likes to hear that their favorite artist is more of an entertainer than a rapper but it's the simple truth. I completely understand that there is a place in music for this group of "rappers" but they just shouldn't be anywhere near a discussion about an MC.

American Psycho II:
"I feel like I'm about to snap and minute"
My Life:
"Feels like I'mma snap any minute, yeah, it's happening again"
