Well yes FreeSpeech is right, hatchet would have been better obviously. Not sure how that can be so hard to understand.

No, the wordplay (accent/axe sent) remains there. You still have send a ... / accent([same thing as ...] sent) - it just works so much better if you don't say the same thing twice. Good wordplay is like that, and Eminem has always done it like that. Possibly some would have found it harder to catch, but then it would make a greater impression when they did.

there's a thread i made for this type of rhyming improvements in chit-chat, this would have been perfect for that, haha...

i'm very interested in this type of thing, and i'm torn between both of these arguments.

for using 'axe', the homophonic interpretation of 'accent' as 'axe-sent' is there, as well as the inversion 'send-axe'

for 'hatchet', it may rhyme better with 'accent' (especially because he USED an accent), but the inversion is gone and...I think what FreeSpeech and others are saying is that 'accent' could still be interpreted as 'axe-sent' even if 'hatchet' was used just as Eminem obviously intended you to notice in the original line. It would be much more subtle. But the inversion of the 'axe-sent/sent-axe' is gone this way. but a keen listener would still pick up on this.

I think it's up to preference. Whether you want a more straight simplistic rhyme of 'hatchet/accent' but with a more interesting wordplay, or if you want the inverted rhyming 'send-axe/accent'.

This song's hook ruins it anyway TBH, Soulja Boy probably ghost-wrote that hook

I would never have taken your side if I had known you were gay.

Richard I guess I agree it's a matter of preference ultimately, I just think the way he does it now is too simplistic or "primitive".

This, all the way. It makes much more sense, for the sake of the end of the line.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

The only part of the song I really like is just Eminem's bridge before his first verse.. :coffee:

EmBase wrote this in the download link thread im posting it here for everyone to kiss his ass, as is tradition

EminemBase wrote:Meh. Pretty so-so material.

A lot of babbling and same old. I like the little concept but, they could honestly write shit like this in their sleep - they should be throwing these bars out not making songs out of them.

And honestly, for Em to be so 'super focused' in his return and be... committing to such uninteresting material with this. Especially given the expectations, it's, disappointing.

But, towards the end was the song's saving grace. They both reached a class height there. In terms of speed and structure. But again, if all this EP is gonna be is just a showcase of how fast they can rap, it's gonna be forgotten pretty quickly.

Oh and I agree

this song is sooooooooo sick.

i honestly hate people

fast lane and this are both just ridiculous and em's flow juust keeps improving. it's crazy

normally, on the tracks where the beat stops and em keeps rapping it sounds awkward. but on this.... :worship: this is pure hip hop. royce is gettin em go to a whole different level. he's challenging him more than anyone else.
