Any album that is written/recorded by someone who is drunk/high on pills will be awful.

When you're sober, you drive well. When you're drunk/high, you drive AWFULLY. How do people not see this?

Relapse and Recovery are both good albums and both much better than anything Immortal Technique has done.

....... he was always on drugs

eminem just sold out that's all. he's dead and gone imo.... he'll never be as good as before.
Collab with Lil wayne???!?!!!!!!

Collaborating with Lil Wayne is not selling out

Sometimes rappers are underground for a reason. Immortal Technique is a good example.

This isn't the 80's or 90's.

Immortal Technique's music would not be released if he was on a major label.

If Immortal Technique was rapping in the late 80's or early 90's, his music would be on a major label.

Tell me, do you think Public Enemy if they came out now with the music they were in the 80's and early 90's....do you think they'd be on a major label like Def Jam ?

Think about your answer.

That's nothing compared to an over-dosage of pills like fuckin Valium and shit like methadone. Em never fell off the horse, he unsaddled it, brought it to the stable for a rest and he went in the house for dinner and bed. The sun has risen and a new day has arrived, the horse has gained its energy back, as did he. Saddled up and galloping around the track, Em is back.

^^^ cool analogy bro. he might act like he doesn't like it, six months later you'll hear your lyric on his shit

No, he wasn't. I know this has been said many times before, but I'll say it again. He couldn't pay for himself, nevermind his daughter, you really think he had enough money for drugs when most of his songs were wrote for SSLP? He started taking drugs when he blew up, but taking so called 'party' drugs is nowhere near as bad as taking what he was during his addiction.

yes nas is a sell out.... have you listened to any of his new shit? he's very similar to eminem. his new stuff isn't lyrically trash (although nothing like before) but it lacks the rap music feel and seems more poppy

for one. production on recovery, and other new stuff, was bad. also eminem strayed away from making a higher concentration of meaningful/storytelling songs. and began with less meaningful, lil wayne-esque (metaphor/punchline filled).... disagree if you want, then go listen to wont back down, and then listen to 6 foot 7 foot. you'll see what i mean. unless you like lil wayne.... which would be sad

stillmatic wrote:Not every rapper intends to be on the mainstream. Immortal Technique's music would never be given the proper treatment in the mainstream too, this isn't no Bob Marley music, it is Public Enemy on acid making music.

That's just stupid, while yes I know all about the mainstream and how you have to dumb you're music down, but wouldn't you actually want people to hear you're music/

B) Not talented enough? Why ? Because you say so? The rhyme schemes and delivery he has in his songs put him amongst the creme de la creme of hip hop when it comes to talent.

He's a decent lyricist no doubt, but he's definitely not a top tier rhymer. No way are his multies touching Eminem, Pun's, R.A.'s, etc. But of course multies is only one aspect of lyricism.

There's no heavy beats at play here, no big hooks here, no autotune here, no dance music here, no lovey dovey love music here. It's pure talent and has co-signs from those who are the heart of Hip Hop history, such as Chuck D and KRS One. Chuck and KRS know a little about talent, so forgive me if I side with them here.

I hope you know Hip Hop started of as 'dance' music, so there is no more 'Hip Hop' just because you speak about conspiracies and what not.

And who cares if they cosigned him, Raekwon cosigned Lil Wayne, Ice T cosigned Lil Wayne and Jeezy are they great rappers?

C) To anyone outside of their base they're just white noise. Just as Eminem is white noise and is just another idiotic homophobic misogynist rapper, just as Nas is another black male who encourages violence, just as Tupac is another thug who encourages drug use and crime, just as Jay-Z is another pretender who talks about nothing but money.

Except they've proved time and time again that they're obviously not.
You wanna see what the common denominator here is? That the perception of these people outside of their fanbase is bullshit. So thanks for contributing to that. Your analysis of Technique fits right above with those perceptions. You hear one or two songs and make a judgment without having any proper understanding of the artists music and what they're talking about. Perhaps you can't understand the intelligence in Technique's rhymes, perhaps you don't relate to what he's saying, because for one it's nothing at all but just simple accusations.

Why are you making assumptions for what he thinks? And I love how you accuse him of making accusations, yet turn around and do the same thing.

What some people fail to realize is that some artists intend to be one-dimensional.

Which guess what detiorates from their overall artistry. Being versatile and not saying the same shit every track is a good thing.

Immortal Technique is that type of rapper. For example, you think KRS One turned from a rapper with street rhymes like Criminam Minded to a rapper who discusses afrocentricity and socio-political knowledge in Edutainment? Did he somehow forget his street savy lyrics overnight? Of course not, it's because chose a new direction to take. It was his movement that we wanted to focus on. You think he couldn't write songs like he did before because Monday turned into Tuesday and 1990 turned into 1991? Of course not. Technique is the same, he's shown he has the capacity to do different type of songs. But he sees the bigger purpose, he sees he's more than just a rapper here.. He's a teacher, so he chooses to focus on the one aspect of his music that gives him the most satisfaction.

So he wants to use Hip Hop as some sort of medium to spout his bullshit? And yes before you hammer, I know about the contributions he made and blabla, yes he's probably a great person irl, but we're discussing music.

Exactly.

It doesn't make them garbage, it doesn't make them unable to make it on a big label, it's simply because the demand for their type of music is close to none in the mainstream, and labels wouldn't push or release it.

If Public Enemy came up with "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" in 2011, it still wouldn't get released on a major label.

Just as if Immortal Technique did "Revolutionary Volume 1/2" in 1990, it would be released on a major label.
