yes it would, he didn't change anything (feel free to debate me with your facepalming smileys).

how tho, when the dude sells 86 million solo records worldwide and gets so many kids into rap who wouldnt otherwise listen/know/care about it...that statement is simply ignorant to the impact he's had on rap and music in general

Well all music is subjective. If I like more Eminem songs than anyone else, then I think no other artist has as many great songs as he does. You could NEVER prove that the Beatles, MJ, or Elvis have more. It's all opinion.

This. You cannot change personal tastes. But as it's been pointed out before with how many records he's sold (best selling hip hop artist of all time and still selling, come on) and how many people got into rap because of him...his influence is indisputable. How can an artist who barely puts out anything generate such a big buzz when a song is finally announced if he's not a big part of the rap game? He could release a single tomorrow or something and it would be massive.

Agree with BBB. :y:

Eminem has approached Rap music to many people that otherwise would never listen rap music. Tell me another artist who have done the same.

*name* wrote:Rap would be the same if Eminem never existed, did you think rap music needed Eminem to be where it is? .. he did have a little influence, but not as great as 2Pac for example, or even Weezy.

Come on man, you are just being stupid. Ok, we get it, you like other rappers more than Eminem. But saying that Weezy had more influence than Eminem is just plain stupid. Or that rap music would be where it is without Em. People who never cared about rap started listening to it because of Eminem. Lots of people got into rap because of Eminem and then discovered other artists. I`m one of those people. I heard some other artists before Em and I liked them, but I wasn`t actually into rap untill I heard Eminem. He made me fall in love with rap in a heart beat. He was something completly different, he was rapping about the craziest stuff, about his life and problems and he was making fun of the boybands and pop stars-and I hated those when I was a kid. More people could relate to him and his music then to other rappers, which were mostly gangster rappers.

And his influence is far greater than Waynes. Eminem one of the most skilled rappers ever. And Wayne sucks flying dicks. Wayne can only inspire you to make shitty punchline songs. Em is a genius lyricist and storyteller. And the man sold more records than anybody and you say he has no influence. And, Em got big in 1999-2000, so we need to wait for the generation of rappers influenced by Eminem.

Listen what you want and who you want, but don`t go posting dumb shit here just to have an excuse to attack people that will disagree with you and say that we are just blind, delusional stans. In my 2 years here I noticed that members think that is the way to be a "great member". You think that Eminem is not the GOAT. Ok. But saying he has no influence and saying that dudes like Wayne have more is making you look like an idiot.

yeah and i could probably name 5 michael jackson songs that still get decent amount of play..

5 songs by 2pac ..

5 songs by [insert any succesful artist]

the claim was eminems songs are better than for example michael jacksons. i never said eminem doesn't have "classics", read the thread man.
i debunked his "classics" being more and better than other artist's.

and i doubted eminem's influence on rap music (and don't be the third to come up with he got kids to listen to hip hop and dye their hair blonde)

I never said anything about that. I just mentioned songs that I consider classics by Eminem. This is an Eminem forum, right?

you want another artist to do the same? vanilla ice and mc hammer probably

that isn't the point anyway. didn't i state clearly enough im talking influence ON OTHER ARTISTS not making kids dye their hair or getting them into hip hop and whatnot
he can have all credit he wants for getting random kids into hip hop but absolutely none for paving the way for the future of hip hop. and that isn't even his fault.

even the first rapper to make a trap music style song obviously had bigger influence on rap music than eminem, paved the way for young jeezy, gucci mane, etc (i think it was t.i but don't take my word for it) [before someone yells "troll" now, i'm 100% serious]
who did eminem pave the way for? how do his punchlines, flow, emotion influence today's artists? enlighten me please.

i'm glad someone else agrees with me.

I will be honest I'm too lazy to read half of the things in this thread. What I meant is that no other artist has approached rap to the general public.

My friends in general listen to rock music , and they have Eminem's songs on their ipod , do you think they have vanilla ice or Mc hammer? No.
Rap is not the music I listen neither in general and I love Eminem.
So...answering *name*'s question if rap would be the same without Eminem. No. Lot of people wouldn't give a fuck about rap music.

Hopsin is influenced by Em. Tyler too. Em is one of the greatest rappers ever, he has influenced loads of rappers, just like Pac, Nas, Biggie. Every lyrical MC today is influenced by Em, more or less. He is the most verstile rapper ever, he has funny, sick, personal, emotional, horrorcore, political, social content songs. He is an incredible battle MC. There you have all of the rap ground covered. So how the hell did he not inspire other rappers!? Are you stupid?

Don`t you think he has a major influence on Yelha and SH?

And it`s easy too know which rappers are influenced by Wayne-they suck.

you obviously don't give a fuck about rap music and only listen to eminem, so how did eminem help hip hop there? not at all .. he got another personal fan, but did that help hip hop? no.. did he put you on other artists like 2pac, biggie, rakim .. ? no.

btw how do you multi-quote? i dont feel like having to make 3 posts in a row

I listen more hip hop artists now, so yes , Eminem helped there.

I don't know how is so hard to you to understand, is easy to see that Eminem is the rapper who has approached rap more to the general public. That's just a fact.

anyway I'm out of the discussion, you have your opinion and I have mine.

for the quotes, well if i want to quote more people I just copy and paste...

Thank God Emined had no influence on Gucci, Waka, Drake, Rick Ross.
And, as you can see in my post, I said "lyrical rappers".
And Em is in the game since 1999, so how could he influence rappers from the 90s?

Exzibit wrote:first of all, thanks for the help with the quotes.

didnt sound like you did. he still didnt pave the way for other artists
it might be a fact he did that and i do acknowledge it.. i'm saying he didnt influence other artists much or paved the way for future artists.. yall act like he turned hip hop to a mainstream sensation when in reality, it already was

me too in a while.. these people here don't even seem to read what i type, i keep having to fight back the "he made it popular so hes a big influence" bullshit..

Well I also think he has influenced many artist and it's going to be very difficult for other MC's to overcome him. I agree with what Fleka says. And I also agree with this:

Anyways glad to help you with the quotes.

^ If Eminem wasn't there man, Hip Hop wouldn't be nowhere as big now. So all you can do is thank him, because a lot of rap talents wouldn't be famous if hip hop wasn't famous. He really accelerated Hip Hop's sucess.

A lot of rap fans got into rap by Eminem, especially in a worldwide scale..

I know I wouldn't never liked rap if it wasn't for Em. Liked it but not enough to go in depth. Now I listen to a lot of artists and that's because he kept me interested in the art.

I never said that people never cared for rap. Em attracts more people to rap than any other rapper. And I ain`t even gonna argue anymore, when you say that one of the greatest musicians ever (and the greatest rapper) isn`t influential, well you are just talking shit.
