Well i think for those of us that like The Eminem Show Em. Recovery is a fantastic Album it really depends on why you listen to him for those of us who listen to him for Introspective, Personal, Emotional tracks to relate to then the Recovery Em is perfect. While those who listen to him for the Slim Shady goofy/shock value Lyrics will like the older material like The SSLP, The MMLP but will like Relapse and BME too.

It's not a case of old vs new really it's a case of Emotional/Deep Eminem vs his Slim Shady Alter Ego.
My top 10 fave Eminem Songs ever

Superman
Mockingbird
8 Mile Road
Rock Bottom
Sing For The Moment
Soldier
Hailies Song
When I'm Gone
If I Had
Say Goodbye To Hollywood

No, it's not. The point of this thread is not about if you prefer "emotionalz" or "shady" Em, it's who would you think would win a battle, prime Em or current Em.

If I had to choose, then obviously I'd take Em from 2000-2003 but I'm happy with where Em's at right now. I like the content of Richard, it makes me confident he's starting to not give a fuck again. He's getting more specific. And Hell: The Sequel is actually great, listened to it for the first time in a long time yesterday and it was awesome. His rhyming definitely went up a notch from Recovery, and the production is obviously better. I think he's actually been improving compared to his post-Recovery songs like All She Wrote and Roman's Revenge. Even though I do like those songs but they were major steps down from Recovery. Everything he's done since Hell: The Sequel has been solid.

All She Wrote a step down from Recovery?

Mentioned in the same sentence as Roman's Revenge without a "Is way better than" between them?

:confusion:

I mentioned those two because they were let downs and were made after Recovery...Recovery is filled with great songs and music and those two are lacking in comparison. That's not to say I don't like them, All She Wrote was dope and Roman's Revenge is listenable, but compared to Recovery they were steps down imho. And yes, All She Wrote is way better than Roman's Revenge but that wasn't the point I was trying to make...mentioning those two songs makes sense to me. I was worried that Em was gonna go downhill after those songs but then he drops Hell: The Sequel and I enjoyed it greatly and I've liked both Throw It Up (for some aspects) and Richard. I don't have major complaints about those songs, they were just...not that great to me. I still liked them though so don't think that I didn't.

You're all wrong. Old Em would mention all of that, just like the Warning (albeit technically being New-Em) embarrasses himself as well as Mariah. He'd then proceed to pick new-Em to pieces.

People sit back and say that Eminem can do this and that now, but where are the tangible examples? Would he wrap old Em in a whopper that he bought from BK? :shakehead:

No, we're not all wrong, it's all hypothetical so how can anyone be wrong in a fabricated scenario? Lmao, I get what you're saying though. The dirt on current Em isn't that bad, what? Is he gonna diss him for a few bitch bashing and food referencing tracks? Old Em had all of those too.

You really think if Em right now was pissed off and had reasons to diss someone, he'd make a reference to food or something like that? He's just fuckin around.

I don't think new Em would be bothered to respond. He's so reclusive, his diss would have to be perfect word for word, and that level of perfection usually leads to a track which feels unnatural. At the time when the Warning was made he was flowing on the tide of Relapse, and once the anchor stuck fast he had to try and recapture what it was he felt his music was missing.
With regards to the disses, I think the old Em would happily get into this scenario whereas current-Em wouldn't. A lack of ambition would be degrading to whatever we see produced, as Throw it Up shows.

It is all hypothetical, but in a scenario where people think a track like Almost Famous is one of the best since he came back (it's not bad, but in the early days would have been an album filler for me) I just don't think Em has the capacity now. I'd love to be proven wrong. He needs another relapse to revise his current position.

Put it this way: Who Knew is a brilliant track from MMLP, but for me isn't in the top 3. If it was released now I'd bump it everyday and consider it awesome. When I listen to tracks like Richard on a playlist with his old music, I realise that whilst the music he is coming out with isn't terrible, it's nowhere near as good as I initially thought.

Just my 2p :)

A relapse would ruin him and his music. Have you heard his music when he was taking drugs? Much worse than it is now and twice as immature. He had no energy on the drugs. It's crazy to even suggest for him to relapse. :confusion:

It's not that he can't make music like he used to. It's that he just doesn't. He chooses not to. The Warning proves he can sound and rap just like he did back then. He needed to reinvent himself to stay relevant, and he succeeded.
