I do think "Hey Ya" is a great song and of course it's hip-hop? Lol what would it be?

"Outkast dick-hugger"? Nice.

It's obvious you didn't even listen to the album considering songs like "Roses" have R&B influences. Album isn't really poppy. He does rap in "Hey Ya!"?

Only rap artist to have two diamond albums
First artist to sell 1 million digital albums
Biggest selling digital rap album with Recovery
First rapper to win an Oscar

There are way more, but that's all I can think of.

Is Recovery still the highest selling digital album?

I think Adele might have shit on that record.

In 2010, Not Afraid was the only solo rap song to reach number 1. If there haven't been any since (and I can't think of one right now) he is the only rapper to have a number 1 (without help) this decade.

^ Since Not Afraid there's been Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa in 2011 and Whistle by Flo Rida in 2012 (kind of depressing that we're only getting 1 per year now, and that the most recent one isn't even a hip hop song).

And yeah, Adele going to match Eminem's record, since 21 is going to be the best-selling album of both 2011 and 2012. Michael Jackson's Thriller also managed the same thing, but maybe that was before the Soundscan era started, I don't know. 50 Cent was also close to doing that in 2003 and 2005, but missed out in the end.

To be honest, there was a lot of debate about what genre Hey Ya! was when it was popular. A lot of people were even claiming it was an alternative or rock song, even though I can't hear ANYTHING alternative or rock in the song at all. I would've thought people were just saying that because there was guitar in the song, but there's guitar in loads of hip hop songs, and they don't get accused of being rock. I love the song though. I do think it's very poppy, but that can be said of nearly all massive hip hop hits, and it's not a bad thing, and doesn't mean they're not hip hop imo.

I thought of Whistle like 15 mins after I posted that, totally forgot about Black and Yellow though.
1 per year really is depressing.

Hey Ya is a great song. So many good slow acoustic covers of it out as well. A hip-hop song being popular doesn't make it shit (most of the time these days it sadly does) but hey, it's all subjective.

Hey Ya is really well written though.

Is Eminem the only active solo artist with two diamonds? If not who else?

EDIT: Ok Mariah Carey and Maddona can be included too. Mariah and Eminem do have stuff in common.. Lol.. Can you guys suggest any more artists?
