Trimss wrote:Mhh, Accor, you don't judge a song on a line. The only bad line in Our House was the Rene Zellweger one. Where I'm At has one bad line too, why can you ignore these bad lines when they're in an other artist's song? Like Kanye.

Kanye has some of the most AWKWARD lines ever. Yet everyone ignores them if the overall sound is good.

There's a lot this going on at the moment. People approach Em songs with a fine toothed comb and if you look for a bad line, you'll find it. Especially when punch lines are concerned - there's a fine line between funny and corny. If you do 20 puns in a song, at least 1 will be pulled out and criticised.

I found H:TS amazing, actually. The Above the Law verse always gets me pumped. Not many rappers achieve powerful verses like that.

I'm not bothered by Em's dodgy lines, it's more the erratic flow / delivery problems that there are in lots of his features.

I don't see what's wrong with the "I raised hell like a stay home dad"

He raised hell/hail. Hailie. It's not a great punchline, but it's not comparable to any of his wack ones really.

I don't think he's judged too lightly. With great power comes great responsibility. You can't be considered one of the greatest without being put under a microscope and constantly compared to your greatest work. That happens to every person in every walk of life who has achieved greatness. Em once brought it no matter how the beat sounded, no matter who's track it was, no matter what the subject was. The guy would go to a radio station to freestyle, they'd give him any random beat and he'd kill it. The change isn't one that easy to come to terms with.

Why the hate for HCTW?

Some of you all seem to forget it's the artists' own songs and they want them to sound a certain way, affecting how Em's verses will sound. He'll have control over what he sounds like on his album.

That verse is awesome tbh, and the rhymes / content / flow / delivery / voice / humour is all on point. Nothing wrong with it...except the rest of the song lol. But as a verse it's great.

Yeah. No one hated that verse though, it was appreciated on StudioLeaks too for what it is. It's a good verse.

Seriously though, if we take Em's verse from HCTW and compare it to any other rapper's guest appearance on a pop singer's current song, few can compare to the sheer amount of rhyming he put into that verse, plus it all made sense and was relevant to the song.

For example, Kanye's feature on E.T. is probably the dumbest guest verse I've ever heard in my whole life. Pockets on Shrek, alien sex!

Em rarely does guest verses anymore so its only natural that we over react to them
wish he would drop more verses though and if he did, we wouldn't be looking down at some of his lame verses as much as we do now

kanye and wayne* can drop them wack verses cause they release material constantly so you know that their verse on so and so song isn't the direction they are heading too when you can listen to another verse released around the same period that bangs

*using wayne as an example feel free to switch him with another rapper you like

I don't think anyones judging them too lightly.

No ones in denial that Numb was pretty fucking surprising. But on the other hand, people were pretty pleased with Em's flow improvement on HCTW.

But if you look at prime-em features, the difference in quality is pretty obvious.

this. he has guts to say he's a g.o.a.t. so he should be judged thoroughly.

Maybe.. he doesn't really give a shit.

I mean, he releases Relapse, gets shit. Comes back with Recovery, gets shit, Relapse is now the shit. Possibly, he's seen the shift of judgement on Relapse, and was waiting for Recovery to get some love. Now.. here's a concept.

He releases Relapse/Recovery, both fantastic albums for their respective fan-bases. But, they both failed to appeal to the masses. For Relapse, Em most likely aimed for the true Slim Shady-esque fans. For Recovery, Em blatantly tried to appeal to the 'mainstream' fans. Getting back to what my point is.. both albums were no where near shit. But, when released, they were given shit.

So, after ALL of this, Em decides to release shit music. Guess what? Fans stick up for the music, saying "They're not his songs, so why the fuck should he give it his all?". And I agree. You can bring up as many 'facts' and 'examples' from other artists' careers, stating that you should be great, no matter what. The fact of the matter is, he's most likely in the lab working his ass off, creating, what he sees in his mind as, an album worth releasing. Why the fuck shouldn't he? He has every right in the world to do and say whatever the fuck he wants. He's earned it. For the past 5 years, he's been trying to make albums/EPs to appeal to all of the criticism that he gets every year. And he delivers. As it's been said before, fans want Shady, he releases Shady (Relapse), fans don't want his 'new' Shady, he releases non-Shady (Recovery), fans don't want his 'new' non-Shady, he spits several tracks of fire on the EP. He's delivered and he's been delivering. Maybe, just maybe.. he doesn't want to appeal anymore, especially during the album off-season.

I know he's Eminem, and I know, for the past decade or so, give or take a few years, he's been the GOAT for so many. But can't you cut him just a little slack, at least until the album-hype phase? If you don't think he's the GOAT anymore/think he's fallen off, then why the fuck do you annoy the people that are trying to still enjoy his music, by posting shit like, "Just because it's a feature, doesn't mean shit. Kanye's been the best!!"? Just let FANS enjoy music. You're taking it all too seriously. This is the kind of shit that ruins music.. NOT a few below-par Em features.
