But anyway, people should buy the album and not rip it. A lot of people on here openly say they rip albums lol

I know... that's why I said it was a reality check.
I hope you didn't think I was trying to be a smart ass or something though... I was just saying.

I didn't think that at all, but it seems like you think people are stupid and that you need to emphasize words for them, or something lol. We get what you're saying, is all

Nah I just like doing it crystal clear... it's a habit I guess.
I'm not the one to judge who's stupid or not anyway.

All good... I like bitches actually so go for it. ;) lol

On topic... the days Em could easily sell a million plus are definitely gone.
The reasons are too many... as a matter of fact you even pointed out one of them.

hahahahaha!

I do agree with you though, he could if people would buy the albums, but they simply won't and that's sad. Personally, if I were an artist and my numbers were lower than I know they should be because of people ripping, it'd be discouraging. I think a lot of artists do feel this way, and that's why there isn't albums after albums, like it used to be.

I agree but there are other reasons too. Plus the internet helps artists broadcast themselves way easier than before & most of them have a lot more freedom & get more money 'cuz of it so basically it's not that bad. Esp. if we talk about the ones who don't have mass appeal.
Plus at the end of the day... it is what it is. Adopt or die ya know.
Don't forget to be a bitch yo... lol Were you just teasing or something!

lol I'm too easy going to be much of a bitch tbh. Takes a lot of emotion to get that moody and snappy about something.

Oh for sure, there are countless reasons. It's not like Em needs the bragging rights from sales or the money at this point in his career, it just nice to see awesome artists make awesome sales.

That's because we've all grown up by this point haha. I was around 11 years old when he came out and I started to listen to him, I'm 24 now!

Ok I think we have to switch to DM's right now lol
On topic... Recovery sales are pretty much great IMO... esp. considering the status of the music industry & the phase of Em career. If his next album matches that would be incredible actually... & that at least is doable.

I'm actually heading off to bed after I post this :)

I think the album will do great like you said, either as well as Recovery or better. But that all depends on promo and all of that. I can't see it doing worse. I think this album is going to be great :y:

I don't care if it sells 12 copies. As long as I get one and it sounds good.

For number 3; I take pride in knowing that the artist I like the most sells huge number's. I like to be able to say he is the highest selling artist ofthe past decade...just another reason to give somebody as to why he is better than everbody else. For me it's quality + number's.

Numbers mean nothing in terms of being better. Rihanna's last album has sold over 2 million. Nas's last album has sold a little over 300 thousand. Doesn't mean Rihanna is more talented. It means there are a bunch more women out there that want to listen to rhianna and be like I LOVE HIM, I WISH HE WAS NICE TO ME, BUT HE ISN'T, I CAN'T WALK AWAY, OMG I RELATE TO HER SO MUCH. Rather than hip hop fans.

Like nas said. Hip hop is dead.

I didn't mean it as in their only good if they sell big. I mean, The fact that he can sell as much as he can is just reinforcement as to why I think he's the best there is. Like, if someone ask's me why I like Eminem out of all other artist's, I can say because he is the best there is at what he does-that's fact, because number's don't lie.
If you had one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, would you capture it? Or just let it slip?

Nah that shit never works... plus he's not ready to quit so it'd be a Jay style sell out cliche.

I take it this "1 million sales" is strictly domestic sales (US)? Because, both Relapse and Recovery sold more than 1 million in their first week on the market (WW).

Is it possible for Eminem's 8th solo album to sell more than 1.000.000 copies in its first week (US-only)? Of course. Assuming Em delivers the quality which is expected from him, it's all in (i) Interscopes and (ii) retailers hands. They must decide what their priorities are. If their goal is to maximize the sales of the album in the first week, 1 million is easy.

even if EM is a mega star and has got a lot of new fans after Recovery, i think he will need a gigantic hit in the first or second single before the album release to pull off that milli.
