Don't get me wrong I can appreciate it but the balance between lyricism and flow/sounding good is skewed. If it was all about lyrics you're basically saying Mmlp2 is better than mmlp

Smh at pseudo-intellectual hipsters

i wasn't aiming any insult towards you brah, im on about the braindead fucks who listen to the current shite out there now, the fans of wacka flacka and the like. ive had to personally check things out on rapgenius just to verify certain lyrics of ems, but em does have substance aswell as all kinds of wordplay thrown into the mix.. i aint no hipster either, i hate hate hipsters

Lol it's cool, I just come out swinging on this forum already.
I guess some people are comparing em to what's out now, but I'm comparing em to the em of the past. He's still excellent but as his lyricism continues to gain leaps and bounds, he's still not "better" than before

and again, rhymes have nothing to do with the lyrics. When we praise Lupe or Nas as the best lyricists ever, it's not for their rhymes.

MMLP2 has more to offer than just rhymes retard.

lal, thats cool brah, em has certianly changed a lot since days of old, back then his lyrics were inspired by being broke and angry, he certainly aint broke anymore and his anger has dissipated somewhat, now its all about the craft for em, which i love to see his growth in it

Y'all are some real idiots.. His original classics aren't lyrically complex?

It has nothing to do with him being too complex.. he's TRYING TOO HARD to be complex. That's my problem with it.. where before it seemed effortless.

Me personally I'd perfer him not force the simple puns, and cheesy punchlines.. I don't care how many meanings it can have. I praise his technical ability constantly but I doubt this is an issue.

IDK fuck it.. I am not a casual listener so I can't get into their head. I dunno why I posted.

Very true. All he can really do is put his focus on getting more skilled than he already is. Which is an awesome thing to watch his improvement, especially considering how good he was already

"Your about to witness hip-hop in its most purest, most rawest form, flow almost flawless."

His rhyming is incredible on this, but I think he got carried away with the technicality and forgot about flow. His flow is all over the place and honestly is sometimes hard to listen to. I miss his effortless flows and the line i quoted above is the start to a verse with effortless flow gliding over the beat. This was scarce on mmlp2.
I attempt these lyrical acrobat stunts while I'm practicing that
I'll still be able to break a motherfuckin' table

I really don't think it's that he can't flow like that anymore, it's because he just doesn't want to.

Jay-Z says the rapper is an instrument.. You aren't supposed to get in the way of people vibing to the beat.. and post Relapse that's all his flow has done..
I appreciate the technical ability but it gets in the way of he used to just effortlessly stay on pace with the beat.. It was so clean as if his voice was just as much of the beat as the snares.. Perfect honestly.

I agree. Look at the 'Baby' flow, for example. I think it's great, and Em could do even better if he wanted to.

THIS, and that's why it kinda lets me down.. he shows he can still blend with the beat so effortlessly.

Average, ignorant listeners: Every Eminem song is "too lyrical" for them, unless it's from 04-07.

Knowledgeable listeners/rappers: The flows are too forced/choppy and the bars are too misaligned for many of them to enjoy the lyrics. Mac Lethal and Copywrite both think the album is horrible, for example, and they're big Eminem fans.
Canning: What will it say on your tombstone?
Charlie Sheen: Something dot com.

I agree with this. But it's hard to explain.. Like, he's pretty much always been lyrical. But he does a lot of wordplay and switch ups on this album that it is kind of hard to keep up with for maybe a casual listener, or some small minded people who just listen to music for different reasons. But I love that, it keeps it fresh for me, and much rather this than a song I could learn after two or three listens.

And that's why no one gives a shit about them and no one buys their albums. Because they think good music is bad.
