I hope you're right but it most definitely won't drop on May 25. If it was up for that date it had to be officially confirmed weeks ago so they'd plan the whole advertizing procces. Eminem is international platinum artist so 2 months are not enough for that. His first singles are always out nearly 2 months before his albums come. Like I said I would be the happiest man in the world if you're right but it's definitely too close for an artist like Em. Plus don't forget Em works with new a different producers right now so before the album drops Dre had to mix it and overall touch it which is always a problem time wise. lol

i would think the same thing but he always drops release dates at the last second, usually about two months before if i remember correctly (Relapse was announced March 5 or 6)

He's always careful with not outstaying his welcome or putting too much of himself out so I think even if he easily had a masterpiece of a double-album he'd only put out a single because he keeps liking to... Make people want more of him.

Which is good but at the same time... At this point, he hasn't exactly overwhelmed us and he's been gone for so long. And since he's close to the end of his rapping career due to age (or likely) it would be a nice treat at this point. Can't see it though. But wish he fucking would.

other thing is that he says he's still trying to make the "perfect" album...most double albums i've heard...i felt like if i could trim the 25 or so tracks to 15, it would be perfect lol. Tech N9ne's Killer is the perfect example. I can count about 15 tracks that, if they were alone, would make a flawless album. The filler tracks definitely weigh it down.

Which is awesome. And I do believe him. Esp what Em said too, saying he's going for songs instead of one liners now. Songs you can play 100 times etc.

I was listening to "8 Mile Road" earlier and just thinking how, that track and "Lose Yourself" felt like his next true evolution despite being in character. If we had an album of that type of music for Encore, I think it would of topped TES and been the album's true successor.

Such perfect self-expression (again, whilst partially fictional) but so articulate and... Seems like he's really trying to push his own limits in the song in terms of poetry and expression. The music is also so rich and accomplished, felt like a step forward even when I thought he couldn't get any better after TES.

I'm imagining Relapse 2 will be that sort of stuff, that type of scope of ambition. Sort of 8 Mile meets MMLP. A blend of cinematic soul-searching, poetic expression and psycho melodrama.

And about most double albums usually needing to be cut down sure but... If he could make a perfect double-album. That would be a true accomplishment. Say like 30 tracks. If he could pace it magnetically and just have the perfect variety.

It seems the only way he'll be able to top what he's done. No filler, double-album, consistent with extra-large ambition. I think it has to be a double unless the single album is truly mind-blowing for people to feel he's 'outdone' MMLP and TES.

Unfortunatly, it's looking more and more like an August date at the earliest because of his July tours. And I read that the D12 album is coming out in May so I can't see them releasing both albums in the same month.

Usually they confirt the release dates like up to 4 months before the albums and unfortunately often push them back with new relase dates. With Relapse the so called first single 'Crack a bottle' was out and on radio nearly 3 months before the official relase date, and then the video for 'WE MADE YOU' came like a month and a half before the album, ironically the whole album leaked nearly 3 weeks before the release date. So far we don't have anything from the new album and 25th of May is like slightly over 2 months from today.
What's your source my friend, if it's not a secret of course, but is it reliable?

if Em's got a Lose Yourself type single, it would be best to hold off until the last second and carry the momentum of the single right into the release. And not that it's very relevant but Rihanna's album was announced in October and released in November so you never know.

That's not true. Relapse didn't get pushed back once.

It's only a push-back if a date is set and that changes. That never happens with Eminem because he never commits and releases a date until he's positive it's coming out.

Prior to them setting the date for May 2009, it was all rumour and speculation. "Crack a Bottle" was intended for 50's album but they just put it on Relapse because it became a #1 and Em's album was coming first.

Em personally announced the name of the album himself in late 08 and said they were looking at the 1st quarter of 2009 but didn't commit any dates. So no it never got pushed back.

It's entirely possible that Relapse 2 can still come by may.

I know, but R2 was kinda (not officially, as there never was an official release date announced) pushed back too (due to change of direction), remember, it was first meant to come out late 2009. And 'Crack A Bottle' was leaked, that's why they had to put it out like a single so early? Anyways, I just speculate, like everyone else...
