Relapse did 608,000 cause it was EM's return album, it only leaked a week before, it had 4 singles out before the release, and it ha a lot more promotion in the U.S. including Vibe and XXL magazine covers.

honestly, eminem doesn't need promotion. I think he puprosely leaked Recovery in order for the fans to just spread the word...cause honestly back with Relapse, we were afraid to tell our friends about the album (at least I was, that shit was horrific and i'm specifically just talking about the accents) but with Recovery, I've shown to every single one of my friends, and every day I hear of more and more people learning about Recovery.

this actually crossed my mind, and after reading that it kinda makes sense. altho relapse did leak 2 weeks before, just like recovery. all i know is everyone already has the album, and everyone keeps talking about it. I've gotten a ton of texts about if i heard it, my friends have status's strictly saying how great it is...my one friend who likes em even put his status as recovery being the best album of the decade

what is going on with the promotion!? Em hasn't been any where in the U.S. I know it's still a week left, but there's nothing. Then they move the release date one day and nobody even knows it. Another thing that pisses me off is 'Slant' magazine gave Recovery a 1.5 out of 5 and that shit really pisses me off. I mean, they gave MMLP a 1.5, but this shit is annoying. Thank Me Later got a 4 outta 5! i have a feeling Drake is gonna sell more first week than em.

Slant Magazine has always hated on Em's stuff giving the wackiest reasons ever. It's the same magazine that rated Encore higher than the MMLP so we know they have diarrhea-for-brains. Other words they don't count for anything, lol. Slant magazine isn't going to influence Em's sales in any way, shape or form so relax.
I read in another thread that they're shipping 1million copies of Recovery in the US so while it's unlikely that Em will do a million first week I can safely say he will outsell Drake (they're shipping 500 000 of TML). Hell, Relapse (garbage in most people's eyes) sold more than Jay's BP3 (a classic in most people's eyes)
And like Tash8 said, he really doesn't need promotion. HIs name alone is enough to generate some sales.
