Even if she has talent, how is she 'way more talented' than Pink? Lol...Pink made it with her voice, Gaga for her image.

So you going to tell me Gaga can't sing? Yeah, I'd agree with the image part but P!nk made it off her image as well.

@Bigray, learn to form an individual opinion before you criticize one.

Pink made it because she was different. She wasn't an innocent-glamourish-cute-little-pop-star. She made it because of her great voice, and the fact that she was different and also probably because she wasn't scared to speak her mind.

Gaga is just different to be different. Like y'all would say.. It's forced.

@Geno, smh.... Can I not judge anything with an opposing opinion on here like you did with The Recipe & Swimming Pools (Drank)? I at least gave me reasons why so far I'm not liking this track. Your argument usually ends with, "it's boring." I didn't hate on you for that opinion but I gave you reasons why I disagree.

@Menzo, yeah but you said P!nk made it off her voice. I thought that implied you thought Gaga couldn't sing. Anyway, they both only got attention from their image, like almost every artists out there. That includes Eminem. You could even say Eminem and Gaga both formed their careers off of shock value, however their approach was different. Gaga dresses like a freak show and is one, Eminem acted like he was messed up and crazy.

@Bigray, I'm sorry I'm not licking the dick of your Lord and Savior, Eminem, every chance I get.

I'm not hating on Love the Way You Lie, but Lighters is definitely a compromise seeing how they obviously made it for commercial success. LTWYL is an arguable record, but I'll just say it's fine. And, as I said, I expected this from a P!nk album, but was hoping to be surprised.

It's not a compromise at all. Sure, it's not a "Bad Meets Evil" style song, but they didn't compromise anything. Look at more like Eminem ft. Royce. The verses aren't anything poppy.

The beat and chorus are though, it's a generic beat that Relapse Eminem wouldn't even get on.

So why do people hate LTWYL? It's not pop. It has Rihanna, and she fit the concept, and it's a very violent and serious subject matter. It's the same with Lighters. Sure, the beat is kinda poppy, but the song isn't. It's about getting out of a dark place and turning your life around. The "lighters" part of the song could be taken 2 ways. Firstly, it could be literal. A sky full of lighters, like at a stadium show. Secondly, it could be a metaphor for a higher power that helped them get outta their dark place. You see in the video how they're standing on a hill overlooking the sky, right? Em said in You're Never Over he had a vision of Proof. For Royce, it could've been the thought of helping out his father that made him get back on track.

It's not pop, because it's on an Eminem project.

If it's on Pink's album, it'll be poppy. Who cares.

Yes it's on Kendrick's album. They're actually friends apparently.

And I don't hate LTWYL as much as the next guy but it definitely is a poppy song. Rihanna is there for a reason, yeah. The song could basically be about her. But the song suffered with her on it imo. Skylar Grey's version is MUCH better. And I'm not just talking about the hook but that's irrelevant. The beat is pretty poppy as well from what I recall but I don't really listen to that song. The pop elements aren't my main gripe with it anyway.

As for lighters, that song was made for the radio and for chicks to sing to. Absolutely no doubt about that. There's no reason for Bruno Mars to be on there and him and his production team probably just made it worse. It might just be exposure for Royce, I don't know. But there's no denying that it was made for a demographic.

It's still the type of music he was dissing 12 years ago though.

Personally I think that was one of the main reasons people jumped on his band wagon in the beginning. Pop was so prevalent and he came out attacking and making fun of it. It was a relief for a lot of people that Eminem made it cool to say loudly 'I hate this pop shit.'

He only dissed pop music during the Marshall Mathers LP and Devil's Night era, really...and that was because they were grouping him in that category plus some behind the scenes shit. So it was predominantly between 2000 and 2001, really...not as much as people make it out to be.

Does it matter? If that's what made someone pay attention to him in the first place, if it's still what stands out to them then they are going to be turned off by him working with certain people and certain sounds. You'll always hear it. You heard it with Bruno Mars and Rihanna. People will either get used to it, turned off by it or both at the same time.

Personally I like some pop songs & some collaborations but it depends on how it sounds like Christina with TI on Castle Walls. I didn't mind LTWYL itself just Rihanna's nails-on-chalkboard voice.

Skylar Grey should have been the one to do LTWYL tbh, she was abused too so it'd fit.

@Menzo, fair enough. I still disagree about Lighters, I find te feat. and beat to be a compromise, not the lyrics or message. Let's agree to disagree there.

Eminem/Kendrick track wouldn't be a compromise though because Kendrick will get famous before that happens, it'd only be a compromise if it went against Kendrick's values. Anyway, it has nothing to do with exposure, it has to do with Eminem criticizing pop artists then doing a song with one of the most unoriginal artists or our time, Bruno Mars. He is the definition of pop, besides Brittany Spears and Rihanna (this has nothing to do with LTWYL). Besides, what exposure would Bruno give Eminem, it was more the other way around.
