I agree it would be corny.
But how would it be classless? I presume you mean because it would be exploitative or something?...
Well: all marketing is exploitative and it's not like the song is disingenuous; he made that song organically and that's just what it is. So if you could have it drop on Mother's Day to make it a quirkier success... why wouldn't you. Also it wouldn't be classless if we presume Em means every word of the song, because it's the truth and he means it - so how it would be like giving that as a Mother's Day present, in front of the world.
I've said this somewhere before, but I do believe that this song is disingenuous to a point, but only because so many have interpreted it as a heartfelt apology to his mom. He's never spoken on it, so the meaning is left to the listener to interpret.
My interpretation of it, and I stress that this is my interpretation, so don't shit all over me if you disagree, is that it's not the apology some people believe it is. If it was, he wouldn't say he'll love her from afar, he'd make an effort to actually forgive and reconcile and try to have some kind of relationship going forward. Phrases like "you did the best you could" and "I'll always love you because you're my ma" are the very definition of damning with faint praise. He re-hashes bad times from his past with her just in case we've forgotten what a horrible mom she was.
I believe his regret is that he never did have and never could have a good relationship with his mom because of the way she is. So he's sorry for what he and his kids have missed out on, not for the songs he's written or the things he's said in the past. I think he believes she deserved them, although in hindsight he regrets how public it got. So this song represents his more mature self regretting the way things have always been with his mom, and accepting that it will never change.
That's not what I would describe as a heartfelt tribute to a mother, so to me, given my interpretation of the song,
releasing it on or near Mother's Day would be classless, since it merely reinforces what a failure she was as a mother.
Just so the uber fans don't get me wrong, I'm not making any judgements here. I think he has every right to his feelings and to live his life with or without his mom as he sees fit. But I liked that he never spoke about it in interviews and left it to the listeners imagination what the true meaning is. So I'm disappointed they did a video at all, regardless of how it turns out.

I'm not saying that the information on this site is necessarily incorrect, I just don't understand who the source is and so I don't see why I should believe it.
Thank you for the info. If it turns out to be true I'll have more faith in the future.
K, so now I know for sure to ignore your site. The post below is dated April 14th and says to expect the video between April 15-21st, then later states "a week to ten days". It's April 24th (10 days) and there's no word from Shady. I'd suggest you stop trying to look official and while you're at it, stop making shit up.

[i]Edited out My interpretation of Headlights - too long to repeat [i]
Well I actually agree with that interpretation and have always felt those things too. I just meant it's genuine in the sense... I don't believe he came up with the concept or lyrics to exploit the situation and that it was an organic urge to try and make-up in some sense but yeah everything you said I agree with.
And it's almost like he is trying to compliment through gritted teeth and it's painful to be positive for him lmao. But Em is a natural depressive; naturally positive thinking and expression isn't who he is, so I also think it's an awkwardness in that territory, but given the things she has said and snippets I've read in that book and even him apparently saying to her ''it's all a big joke'' in the beginning / home videos of them at McDonalds' together and shit (I didn't even do that with my mother and my relationship isn't half as terrible as he claims lmao) - and given like... ''Evil Deeds'' where he says ''I never had any of this shit planned ma, please believe!''... it all makes me kind of believe Em massively exaggerated the whole ''bad mother'' scenario and almost started believing it himself or something. Because he even says that he doesn't remember some things but then his mom's friends would gossip things and he'd assume they must have happened... which is a really weird thing to do.
So... the whole reality of how bad she or the relationship really was is even in question to me. I do believe his personality characterization of her because she is clearly a very similar character-type to my mother; who would swear and rant a lot exactly how he does impressions of her, and was moody and erratic... but is also extremely paranoid and over-protective which goes exactly in-line with what his uncle said about Debbie @ if somebody looked at Em wrong in a car sideways or something. She is very similar to my mother as a TYPE; but I did not have an abusive or extremely bad relationship or anything... I dunno, a lot of things make me think Em just took the bad and blew it up in his mind to use it as artistic fuel and dramatic fodder lmao. He's such a dramatist, as an artist.
So everything you said I agree with, and I also find the whole thing a bit questionable and confusing as to how much truth is in it all, how much he believes what bits, how bad it really was... which could be why the apology sounds somewhat false in that he's kind of straining himself to apologize over a pointless fued over the fact he created an artistic characterization out of her bad points to the point of demonic proportions, so it's almost like he's trying to mend something on different grounds in his mind to what the fans and listeners' interpret - and like he feels compelled to fully embrace the somewhat artistic exaggeration of it for effect, which could be why it feels like it does too in the spots you mentioned, because he's writing what he thinks he should for the story, so it's exaggerated and not entirely true.
As crazy as that may sound in the last few sentences, to anyone, just remember this is the guy who wrote 97 Bonnie and Clyde and fucking Kim lmao. Fuck I'm rambling, and talking in circles now. Aiyt I'm out.

Quoting you for convenience, but y'all seem to think this is a Shady thing. As a long time Nine Inch Nails fan, I can tell you Trent Reznor is the originator of the alternate definition of "soon". Shady are amateurs when it come to this. I dug the image below out of my computer's ancient archives.
