Well here's the problem - Spike is all caught up in the Clippers racism fiasco when he should be concentrating on finishing this video. Appearing on CNN and going to press conferences - no wonder it's taking so long.

Jeez. This is what happens when you hire a dude with social consciousness.
(p.s. I am in no way ridiculing the Sterling situation. Dude should be drawn and quartered.)

Spike Lee appeared on CNN with Anderson Cooper to address Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist recordings. Spike Lee recalls running into Sterling at a restaurant in 2011 during the NBA lockout, where Sterling called him over to vent:
“Why they gonna go on strike? And he started to say we should pay all the players $500,000. If they didn’t play basketball they wouldn’t have a job.”
Spike Lee goes on to say that Baron Davis, who played for the Clippers, is his second cousin and had previously told him a whole lot of other stories about Donald Sterling. And in reference to Sterling’s defense that he is not racist because:
“I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them? Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?” (Sterling recording)
Spike says those statements are the mentality of a slavemaster, and he sees his players as slaves.
There’s a press conference in NYC today at 2pm and Spike Lee says he will absolutely be there.

If it's deep into editing, Spike doesn't necessarily have to be there all of the time. There is an editor or two doing their job on the Headlights video whilst Spike's talking about that controversy. Short films take much longer to piece together than music videos anyways.
