Does no one get educated in genres of music anymore?

If that was true, then every single Eminem album is pop.

That is how the word 'pop' came about..

It IS NOT a definition of anything sugar coated and amazing to teenage girls.. It means anything at the time that is followed and played by ALOT of people.

So technically, something being pop isn't always bad.

You 'Hip Hop Heads' you.. Lmao.

Not Afraid = poppy
Won't Back Down = poppy
LTWYL = poppy
So Bad = poppy
No Love = poppy
25 To Life = poppy
W.T.P. = poppy

Along with various other chorus/hooks from other songs that would be right at home on a radio hit

That isn't necessarily a bad thing though, it's only bad if the material becomes dumbed down and defined by its poppiness, which isn't really the case with Recovery.

So Bad & No Love as pop???? :facepalm

+ WBD and WTP pop? :facepalm :facepalm

I guess having a pop artist singing your hook = automatically pop song.

Don't see how you could argue these lol...

So Bad has the type of beat Dre has made hits out of dozens of times, and Eminem singing an incredibly catchy hook, with very mainstream subject matter...nothing wrong with it, but it's poppy...

No Love has one of the biggest rappers in the world featured on it, samples a famous pop song, and has Eminem singing a catchy chorus...nothing wrong with it, but it's poppy...

Won't Back Down has Pink singing on it for fucks sake :laughing: ...plenty wrong with it, and it's poppy...

W.T.P. has Eminem rapping about subject matter you could find in a Mike Jones song...he's talking about partying and drinking...it certainly isn't avant garde...

what you just said doesn't even make sense...

When a song is upbeat with a sing-song chorus and its subject matter is drinking and partying, it's clearly been written with pop sensibilities. Unless the lyrical approach is original or overwhelmingly dark, or there's some sort of musical innovation that sets it apart. And none of that applies to W.T.P. So yeah, it's a poppy song, could easily see some shit like that getting radio play...

I want to hear Ozzy singing about his bitches and money lol.
I wouldn't call it pop, but if for sure has a mainstream vibe. For me it's the music. A lot of the beats are kind of weak and generic, which happens to a lot of albums with a bunch of different producers scattered over it. If Em and Dre had produced the whole album there wouldn't be as much pop talk.
