Frankly the sample itself is good but the way they looped it makes it sound sloppy.
I agree with you there.. it kind of just goes on and on..
To me the sloppiest part about this song to me is actually the composition the verses themselves.. even royce referred to it in the track, "I write the sloppiest verses down you've seen, I hand it in for green". Joell's was easily the sloppiest, the way he led into the hook was the sloppiest part of his verse IMO, and every time Budden tries to rap fast it just sounds forced to me. "Sound Off" was an example of this enough - his punchlines not only don't hit, but they just aren't even
there. All of their lyrics were good, I just feel the way they put the words together rhythmically could have been better. Crooked was the most consistent in my opinion, with Royce a close second.
Anyone else notice that Royce's vocal tone has just been off lately? Between this, "My Life", "Hammer Dance", and "Throw it Away", his delivery has been a little boring in comparison to the S/T Slaughterhouse record, to Success is Certain, and pretty much anything he's done since the early Bad Meets Evil days. I haven't heard him sound so monotone since he and Em first got together.
Though, this is very low quality. I've been listening to this on repeat since I came across it (which was probably about an hour ago), and I'm noticing that there are definitely things that I'm not hearing well due to the quality. Regardless, if this is an actual album track, I'm already disappointed a little. Though who knows which tracks will end up where if they do release that mix tape they've been talking about lately. I'm hoping I'll like this with a better quality version, but I thought that about "Throw it Away" too, and I still think that track's just OK. This sounds like a song that would either be at the beginning of the record or at the end.
If all 4 of these tracks that have surfaced end up on the final product, I don't know about this anymore. Eminem sounds like he forgot how to use Pro Tools or something too, Joe's talking after his verse sounds so tacked on at the end it's ridiculous, and the way Joell comes in with his verse is not as clean as it could be.
I hope something better comes soon, or the quality of this song is as deceiving as I'm hoping it is.
