There's no doubt Eminem is more popular than Kanye; however, they're both damn popular and well-respected within the musical community.

What's the debate?

It's not about who's better faggots. It's about popularity. There's no denying that Eminem is the biggest rapper ever, but back in 2010 Blu was like 12 or 13 so he wouldn't know.

Relapse almost sold more than any Ye album.. That's sad ain't it?

What?

If you're mocking Ye fans then that's okay.

But if you're not, I don't know why would anyone say that. Relapse is fantastic and deserves to sell as much as Encore and Recovery sold, too.

I think he means that kanye can't reach relapse's numbers and relapse is Eminem's worst selling album. (even if it's a great album)
Poor Blu

It's not really that sad. Relapse is better than any Ye album, and Ye should be happy he has any fans with the subpar quality of his music.

if you don't like kanye's music don't listen to it but don't say he makes sub-par music :facepalm

I don't listen to it lol. People call Relapse sub-par as well. It's just opinions.

I have mine, you have yours. It's sub-par to me. Dude's a rapper and can barely rhyme. The guy overproduces everything as well, and when he gets a good song going like NIP, he goes around and repeats one line for 1-2 minutes and changes the dope-ass beat to a wack one.

  says the dude who gets butt hurt every time someone talks shit about Eminem

Why is everyone trying to change the subject? If you think Kanye is as popular as Eminem you are an idiot. I'm not saying Kanye isn't popular but he's nowhere near as popular as Em. If were talking worldwide Em's probably one of the most popular artists period regardless of genre.

I think the whole point about Relapse selling more is that it's essentially an entire album about drugs, murder, and rape, so you wouldn't expect it to sell more than an artist as radio-friendly and mainstream as Kanye.

This is stupid, if you were to ask anyone who's the bigger artist they'd tell you it's Eminem. How the fuck are you gonna tell me Kanye ruled 2010 when Em dropped Recovery in June, and Kanye dropped MBDTF in like the last week or so of November? Oh yeah, he definitely murked that year, let's completely forget Not Afraid, Love The Way You Lie, No Love, and Won't Back Down's often usage in commercials like Black Ops... :facepalm And even so, you still had Drake who released Thank Me Later around the same time... and Over was blasting EVERYWHERE.

I really don't think I'd understand why people bother making these kind of threads on an Eminem forum.
Its probably because Im relatively new here, but questioning Em's popularity on TR Shady is not only gonna come with backlash, but also some legit responses, too.
And why the fuck does popularity even matter. Yeah, I guess it proves something in Hip-Hop, but I really don't think it should be such a pre-dominate factor, if you get me.

And before joining TR, I thought I was Kanye stan. Y'know, owning all the records (well-Im talking shit here-me no own WTT or Cruel Summer), defending the fuck out him when people would talk shit. For fucks sake, my Uncle even got me the College Dropout vinyl. But them Yeezy fans on here blow me out of the water compared to my love for Kanye. But even since I've joined TR, damn they make me hate him!

And then all the Em & Yeezy comparison, or should I say competitions?
Get off it, man.
I agree when people say that Kanye has made such a cultural impact (thats ussually one of the points I use to defend him) and who gives a fuck about record sales, man- if good music was measured in record sales my music taste is shit (and Im glad to say my music taste is fucking impeccable).
But I also don't want people to diregard Em's cultural impact not just on Hip-Hop, but on music as a whole. Tbh, I see why people compare them but in my eyes, they be on the same level, imo.

^^ Shit sorry, I just looked over how much I wrote. But to answer that question imma say the reason why people justify Em's popularity in 2010 over Yeezy's is because it was that comeback season for him. To fuck of to God knows where for 5 years and then bam, just come back like that-well that shit deserves recognition and applause. And if you asked me which record was better in 2010- MBDTF or Recovery, I think I would of gone with the first, because I bumped that shit so much in 2011. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Recovery hater. I like that shit.

Em, Yeezy, Jay & Nas- the 21st Century Hip-Hop Moguls, imo
