I thought about that myself, but that's one album. I really really really doubt his second album will make the monumental leap in sales that Em's did.
You also have to remember, Em sold that much when the Internet was barely in public formation; Kendrick has had a lot of pre-hype existing online, with his own album he put out before and through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the Internet as a whole (forums etc.) where as despite some shabby forums, Em didn't have any of that. He more-so came out of nowhere to the public. So, Em sold more despite much less build up and widespread exposure... and then as soon as the public knew who he was and what he did became widespread in any sense = EXPLOSION in sales.
I would actually like a black rapper to be bigger than Em just so people can stop throwing around this ridiculous 'it's because he's white' bullshit, but I don't think any rapper will be. Even though that sounds potentially naive; almost as if to ignore the past of consistently being wrong about new artists overtaking the previous... all genres have their staple kings who reach such a level they''re nearly impossible to even get close to (Elvis, MJ, The Beatles, Bowie etc.).
So, I think Em and Pac in particular will be hard to match in sales and reach and legacy. I think others are bound to come along that do new and amazing things and perhaps even carve out a similar stature, just as Em did right when people thought a white rapper wouldn't even be credible, let alone create a legacy for himself that can be mentioned alongside fucking 2Pac.
But, in terms of sales and what he's done, that'll be very hard to come close to, Kendrick is definitely talented but, I don't see him being that huge atm.
