yeah but he still needs a smash hit, although at this point I'm confident Drake will sell past 400k based on the hype alone for sure.

i think the re-release showed that

nah he lost a LOT, Refil did good number but not phenomenal Eminem number, if he dropped an ep like that in his prime it would have sold way more and you know it.

no one does phenominal numbers anymore
refill had no single or promo
it dont great
i thought it would do 50k
it wasnt far off young money's album for which they had a hit single

^ yeah I thought it would do like 70k.
and don't try to tell me Relapse doesn't lose him fans, we both know more people hate it than love it.

I think the promo will be very important this time, cuz right now people don't know he's having new album (I mean people as casual listeners that don't go to hiphop forum)

Agreed. I dont know what it's like in America but in the UK, I know Em fans who dont even know anything about Relapse 2 - most wouldnt even know it existed if it wasn't for me constantly talking about it.

Promotion for Relapse was incredibly bad.

When talking about hype, I don't think Em will have to do much promotion for R2. Look how all of us are slobbering over anything that comes about on it.

i think 400-600k
most em fans liked the album
it just didnt have much replay value
also em got more fans cuz of his forever and drop the world verses

Exactly. Especially when Em himself put no effort in self-promotion like every other artists at all. Who else having new album out and does like 2 shows? But the lack of hit single makes it kinda hard for label to promote too.

no, most em's stans sound more accurate. I know there are true fans that really like the album but they're in minority easily, even Em himself acknowledged that Relapse wasn't public embraced in the Complex interview.

It wasn't an easy album to market to be fair but I expected more when one of the biggest artists of all time in any genre comes back from a 5 year absence. Incredible that Interscope didnt market the fuck out of it. I'm sure R2 will have better promo.

Jimmy fell off :whistle:

lol I think it's more of what Em chooses to do, cuz in the interview from Relapse promo, he looked bored like he didn't wanna be there, I doubt label can push him do that much promo if he don't want to. Just like now, instead of giving update once in a while so other people who are not on this board would know that he's having new album out he decided to keep everything in the dark like fbi mission :unsure:

MikeNufc wrote:Drake is much more in the spotlight in America right now than Em is. Em's single is vital.

Eminems 1st single has never been vital(he sells albums not singles),We made you was not well received and Relapse still sold the most last year where as Jay Z had a far bigger 1st single an still could not outsell him.

He is stepping away from his traditional goofy single on Relapse 2 i hope its like Sing for the moment or Lose yourself.

That comment was in relation to the Drake Vs Eminem album sales discussion.

But I still state that Em's single and promotion is vital. People were more aware of Relapse, depsite the lack of promotion, than they are for this. Alot of casual fans probably wont have a clue about the album. His first 4 albums were all readily hyped up or talked about and promoted. Thats why he sold so well.

Thats why I say single is vital for the album's sales.

Eminems 1st single has never been vital(he sells albums not singles)

fact that people still like all his first poppy singles before way more than WMY though, and they were all more popular & charted higher too.

This thread has taught me a few things :y:

Anyways since everyone is predicting.
R2= 800,000(Optimism)
TML= 600,000(Truth)

I'm confident that R2 will have a good single and like stated before the lead single is vital and could very well hold 100,000 to 200,000 copies in its hands.
