Once you hear someone hating on something they didn't even listen to, that's when you disregard them.

I hate Koolo and all them Studioleaks / RapBasement cunts.

They're all two-faced, switch in an instant, no integrity.

They were all praising his hook until Koolo came in and said the word balls ruined it. I swear these guys jack off every night to Love The Way You Lie in secret so Koolo don't ban them then bash it on the internet latter.

Yup, death is certain for him :y:

Anyways, this hook is fuckin awesome. I really can't get enough, it makes the song better for me. But I'm glad Em doesn't have a verse, I can't imagine him on this beat.

Yeah... I was just about to say that this is what annoys me about Recovery in that he could of constructed more of his own hooks with layered singing etc.

But actually, Recovery is just fine as it is, I'm glad I have an album like that from him.

I hope that on his next album he produces and creates hooks for most songs though.

Menzo wrote:Yeah, Recovery could have used more hooks by him BUT at least they were sampled hooks and not all features...plus I like the hooks anyways - Cinderella Man, 25 To Life, Almost Famous...I really love those ones especially.

We all know Em switches things up each project, so I hope he'll go back to his own hooks on his next album. He HAS to know that it is a perk of his, I've liked almost all his hooks he's EVER done - there are a few on SSLP that aren't amazing, but since then, they've all been phenomenal to me...maybe On Fire is a bit ehh but I like the talking he does in it, it's funny.

His layered singing like on No Love, the bridge on Drop The World, his hook on That's All She Wrote and this song are SO dope. I love those the most I think.

Well I would normally be bitching about so many featured hooks but surprisingly on Recovery, it works. Almost every hook is great and fits the song nicely. And with some songs like "Almost Famous" it actually works better as it's going soft to hard and creating a contrast.

I think that part of the reason he's been having people sing hooks lately too though is because... and this is a guess but just from observation, he likes to try and make things bigger and better every new album (even if he's failed in the past of course), but he likes his music to grow...

And, with rap hooks there's only so much you can do via sort of, talking or messing around with phrases and he's not the best singer so he probably thought that was a limitation too, but notice that even on hooks he's on lately he sings. Singing is the natural progression from rap, so he obviously feel it's the next step, to make it bigger...

So I suspect he feels these singers can do the growth justice, which is fair enough. As, "Space Bound" for example is one of his best songs in a long time. And without that hook... if it had an Em hook maybe, I just don't think it would feel like it does. I think it'd feel 'smaller'.

But he's proven with hooks like "Deja Vu" that he can construct very catchy, interesting hooks which utilize what singing strength he does have and... it's weird, it's almost like a constant high / low thing, almost like a chant, but it sounds brilliant.

^ also, i always felt it may have simply been him hearing the productions with the hooks and wanting to do songs to those beats with the features...which would make sense in that already having the hook would make it easier to come up with a concept for the track

Yeah well that's true for at least a few we know of...

Em heard the "Space Bound" hook for example and wanted it.

He also had "Cinderella Man" off some relatively small-time producer and I believe it had that skeleton hook on, and Em came up with everything from that.

I definitely wanted to hear Em with different producers, it's just a shame it had to be such shitty ones. I want to hear him with Premo and... I dunno, just, great producers.

It has been one thing that I've never really understood tho either, the whole not doing many hooks on Recovery thing.

I mean I'd bet all of his albums prior to recovery totaled as many non-em hooks as recovery did
