Greatest writer in hiphop? Sure. In music? He's one of them, top 100. Of any type of writing? That's a joke. Em couldn't begin to write something like Lord of the Rings or 1984.

I think you're forgetting this is the same man that wrote stories like "Stan", "'97 Bonnie & Clyde", "Kim", "Brain Damage".

I'm pretty sure if he put his mind to it and really focused on it and put his music aside, he could write something on the level of LOTR.

You see Blu, that's the problem with this debate. You mention Em could have wrote something on the level of LOTR but he didn't. You can't bring opinions into a debate. You have too look at all type of genres of writing before debating on what is better. Have you read the entire Bible? Have you read the entire Odyssey? Have you read the entire Harry Potter or LOTR series? Have you watched every episode of Batman: The Animated Series? Have you watched every Tarantino movie? Have you listened to every James Brown or Michael Jackson album? Have you listened to all of Bill Cosby's comedy albums or Redd Foxx's or other comedians? I highly doubt it and that's why I can't say Em is the best. He is one of the best writers in music with songwriting of all time but the best writer of all time? Way too many genres and categories in it to just flat out and say Em is the best. Until you read just about every book, listen to every album, watched every movie, tv show, played every video game and read every comic, then come back with your opinion.

Just like there is no rapper, who is necessarily the greatest.
I've stopped making "greatest lists", because it's a pointless exercise, when this world hasn't even seen some of the best talent yet to come, because that'll be in the future when most of us might be around or we might not be, I mean someone could get famous tomorrow and they'll truly be the greatest to do it, or they might not be, because everyone brings something different too the table in the first place, otherwise I doubt anyone would consider them under that criteria.
