Stay wide awake was made for the sake of rhyming and to showcase Em's skill's.

I'm not even saying the song isn't good. I personally LIKE the song.

My point is that yes it may have more multi's than any other song on Recovery, but it doesn't hold a candle to any of the musical content.

So no i will not Fuck off. I'll Fuck ON? but not off

Multies- Every eminems excuse for the fact that he's not been able to put out a strong song with good content in 7 years before Recovery. lets not waste it looking in to the past now.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

"..burnin' incense, facin' a murder sentence under intense investigation for killin' infants while I sit in padded rooms doin' shrooms.....havin' visions of dead pregnant women with brooms jabbed in their wombs."

^That ALONE blows any serial killer/rape themes he tried to portray on Relapse. :coffee: (that includes SWA)

Now back to the topic. Stay Wide Awake is a good song....one of my favourites but I can't say is spectacular so much as to blow 75% of Recovery out of t he water. (Did I say that right?)
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

No one can take your opinion away from you, but calling people 'idiots' isn't the way to make people respect you. I mean it'd be easy to call you one, but i won't. All im saying is that you'll be searching a long time to find many people with your view.

I hate how just becuase someone likes a technical song it means they're a "nerd who counts multis" and "dont listen to music for its musical quality". Does my head in.

Em is a rapper, his job, primiarly, is to rap. And on SWA he does it well. Probably better than most of Recovery.

I think SWA is great musically as well. I find it nice to listen to without thinking about the technicalities of his writing and rapping.

It's incredible how, in the space of a year, he went from making something of the quality of Deja Vu, to something as terrible as Not Afraid, in terms of his writing.

I know what you're saying, but imo, i think his delivery has to come as part of all of his technique. And if you compare the passion and confidence in what he's saying on NA to deja vu, you feel what he's saying more, however it's worded. That's my view anyway.

I've always said the falt delivery on Deja Vu is intentional. The guy's rapping about a terrible phase in his life when he was addicted to drugs and OD'ed where his kid found him. His deliver yhas to be flat and negative, it can't be angry or joyous. He's trying to gte across his feelings at the time - delivered perfectly to me.

Not Afriad is more uplifting so will have a more uplifting delivery.

I just listened to Stay Wide Awake in my car..

Almost everything on Recovery completely destroys this song. The accent just ruins everything. It's not even close.

Are you serious? Not Afraid isn't written poorly at all. Deja Vu might be written nicely, but he put no emotion into the song, using his annoying Relapse voice. I can't even listen to that song.

Stay wide awake is incredibly written song, one of Em`s best. Serial killer theme gave Em freedom to write what ever he wants. He can not do that in type of songs we have on Recovery. Relapse is skill, playing wih words and showing his talent and brilliance. Recovery is that too, but with some real stuff.
