Recovery definetely is closer to being a classic than closer to being merely good. You think 4 stars is "nice"? The only think stopping Em from having another classic is classic production. You might have a point with the punchlines too, imo WBD wasnt the kind of track I was looking to hear from Em and there are a few weak punchlines scattered around the album.

what are you talking about? Recovery had better punchlines and better wordplay than any other Eminem album besides Infinite. In fact, there was next to zero punches and wordplay on any release after MMLP, and even that album was pretty straight forward lyricism.

Yeah but the punchlines he uses suck.

no they don't
some are meh but some are pretty clever
"call me the space shuttle destroyer, I just blew up the Challenger"
"time to exorcise/exercise these demons, these mofos are doin jumpin jacks now"
"guess thats why they call it window pane/pain"
"screamin attack/a tac like i just stepped on one"

i ain't ever heard any of those before so they're both original and good imo...so many rappers put similar punches together and just replace a few things but some of these Recovery ones sound pretty fresh

yea i do...from a battling standpoint, those don't really fit...but being in a song about somthing, they compliment the other lines nicely and def stand out in the respective songs

I agree with a lot of what the OP says

The shouting delivery is a little grating, but I say it as Em trying to put as much energy into the album as possible. He could have switched it up a bit though because the album can be a harsh listen

I agree on the double time flow, in fairness, Em doesn't use it much on Recovery, but when he does he doesn't sound very comfortable with it

The punchlines, well it seems like Em is just using them for the sake of it a lot the time, there are some great ones though. I'm sick of punchlines these days anyway, they're like the new autotune - everybody is using them and they're boring to me at this stage

Once Em drops the singing and doesn't over-use punchlines on his next album I'll be happy (I do still think Recovery is really good)

i mean don't get me wrong, Em is no Mixtape Weezy on Recovery, but considering his punchline and wordplay game has been non-existent since the SSLP, I was pretty surprised he came correct with that style and is probably gonna only get better...and off course his actual songs are miles ahead of whats dropping today, so Em took my favorite rapper crown right back from Tech N9ne with Recovery.

idk what some haters are on, but I'm sure others who aren't over the top brainwashed Stans can agree with me that it kinda feels like Em made an album for me personally...every time i see some people hate, i'm like, "dude just put out a flawless album" and it just makes me :confusion:

If this was on some Buffalo Bill and 3am nonsense, i'd drop some hater posts too and leave this site until the D12 album or the next Em solo...but people questioning the little things wrong with a great album like Recovery should really question their outlook on life ;)

longest post you'll ever get from me...out

Yes,

''screamin attack/a tac like i just stepped on one'' That's fuckin' awesome.

Damn, I'm starting to think Em has the most whiny bitch ass fans ever.

''Why is he using that accent that sucks''

''why is he dancing when he performs that sucks''

''why is using a fast flow that sucks''

''why is he shouting that sucks''

''why does he never smile that sucks''

It's obvious you guys just want an Eminem show 2. :facepalm

It never ends. These stupid slating discussions never occur on any other fan site I go to... it's crazy.

Rant over.

My biggest thing. To a fan somewhere at some point is never going to be satisified. Which is fine. But why is a lot of these same people think Eminem should do what they think and not another fan who thinks something different. Like their opinion matters more. It's impossible to satisfy everyone all the time.

We need to let the artist do what they want.. If we like the outcome then great. If not, just wait til the next work comes out and hope it is what we wanted or liked. And with the way Eminem has proven to be up to this point. He is always changing and evolving. No two albums sound the exact same.
