''Rap God'' a generic video? The video is brilliant. And ''Berzerk''; ''Rap God'' in particular though - it has a concept which is executed very well and the MaxHeadroom shit to portray Em like some weird-ass psycho society-baiting smartass and the way he delivers the lines is just perfect.
It's comical, creative, inventive... and ''Berzerk'' is boss as fuck too. A great visual style which totally captures the 80s homage sound but it's done very artfully. Doesn't feel cheesy or look 2nd rate at all.
And a lot of Em's videos actually did used to kind of feel... not 2nd rate but if you like at like ''Without Me''; it's a fun video and shit but also kind of visually corny. ''Rap God'' and ''Berzerk'' look and feel really well done, well edited and really stylish and effective to me.
And even ''The Monster'', as much as I wish the song was nowhere near the album and it is a shitty move - the video is pretty great for that too. And it actually does tell a story; it's Em going through an elevator, metaphorically and seeing all of the demons of his past / in his mind, hence him sitting with Rihanna as a psychatrist at the beginning. And the re-creations are pretty weird and unexpected; to see him rapping new lines dressed identically to those iconic moments is quite fun but also shows how many distinctive eras he's had.
Anyway, given the visual greatness of MMLP2 videos so far - I am definitely looking more forward to the ''Headlights'' video than I would be in a different era with an emotional video coming; as they were... not predictable, but, in a way - kind of. As it was just a literal showing of the story, but I get a feeling this will be visually amazing as well as telling that story. And just be a step-up.
But it would be the ultimate bow to this era with a Bad Guy video to top it off. I highly doubt it though after 6 videos and this one being as long as it is.
