I think people get that, but the point is why does he need it? There's a live band and he's a great rapper who is doing a few shows here and there (it's not like he's on tour and they have to watch his voice), so what would be the point? Using playback isn't great when people are singing, but it seems especially lame with a rapper because it's not like anyone is expecting smooth, perfect vocals. The roughness and emotion put into it right at that MOMENT is part of the art.
He's said in an interview for Relapse that he can't stand it when he screws up the lyrics or raps something wrong live, because he doesn't want the fans to pay for a flawed show, so he raps along to the backing track so people don't notice when he flubs the lyrics or slurs something. He said that when he screws up he can't stop thinking about it for hours after the show because he wants everything to be perfect, even live.
LTWYL is always epic live, but it's even better with Rihanna in person.

SFTM was great too.
