I think it sounds like these old hip hop tracks.. It has an old school feeling to it. I mean the hook doesn't really stand out like a poppy hook.

It absolutely sounds like an old school beat, no doubt about it.
I actually feel the hook's too poppy exactly 'cuz of the beat so now I just hope Adam Lavine is not more involved than what we heard on that snippet.
Interesting, nothing poppy or corny beat wise for sure, I can't wait to hear the whole thang!

I think it's more of a geographic thing... like 50's from New York & you're from Yorkshire or wherever... plus he's hip-hop & you're more of a Tom & Jerry kinda person.
