this is going to be such a big disappointment. Eminembase posts his weekly roundup which is basically just 1 line of what the news was followed by 10+ paragraphs of his opinions. Then when people disagree with one of the 50+ opinions he has jammed into the post, this whole thread becomes an argument.

Eminembase, this seems like a good idea, and you are definitely the person with enough opinions and time on your hands to do it, but for the sake of these weekly roundups, check your ego please. Otherwise these will all be arguments. Learn how to respect other people's opinions and say something to neutralize the incident. Not escalate it as you usually do. I say he keeps it up. Plus, there's a difference between arguing and debating. What EminemBase usually does is debate. He shares his opinion, and either gets praised for it or he gets shit for it, he has just as much a right to his opinion as you do yours

A Recovery thread will end up going on and on and on about the shouting while every other thread these days boils down to Kanye VS Eminem. In this one we went down the tried and tested route of arguing how mainstream Recovery is.

Sorry for going of topic but gotta vent. Everyone knew Eminem won ten grammys so the discussion point would have been better if it had centered on the second piece of it. Thats original. Different. New. Same old bullshit and non-progressive arguing is just....

Well actually the bulk of this topic was Grammy discussion. You're selecting facts which support your argument and ignoring the pages of other discussion.

And, as for it veering into that area of discussion... so what? the topic gets ruined more by people like you bitching about how much people shouldn't say this or that than it does by people debating. What's the point of a discussion without DISCUSSING.

Think of a real-life discussion, how often do you stay EXACTLY on point? That's the fun of a normal, coherent discussion. The web of talk that it provides. Things link onto each other and expand. Imagine in real life if you started talking about X then when it slightly veered you went "OKAY STOP, THIS DISCUSSION IS TOO FAR FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT IT'S JUST ARGUING NOW, STOP BEING EGOTISTICAL".

While it might be true that EminemBase has a prominent ego, it really seems unnecessary to bring that up in this topic and is probably the reason behind the warnings being given out. I really don't post that much on this site, as seen by my post count, but I always enjoy reading his posts.

Looking at the replies from his perspective, he's having to deal with people criticizing his choice of words and grammar, as well as people critiquing the way he debates. Him, and I'm sure a lot of other people, would see this as unnecessary and even offensive - so it's only natural to hop on the defensive.

Perhaps when debating with him, or anyone else for that matter, it would be a good idea to phrase your replies in a diplomatic way - instead of accusatory remarks.

Anyway, sorry for adding in to the already increasing amount of off-topic remarks, just wanted to offer another perspective in hopes of settling things down.
