Is stan em's best song ever?

Postby ajthongbam » Nov 13th, '10, 17:31

Every critic praises it and cites it as one of the best rap songs of all time. It has become a word with its own meaning. It is the most culture effective song of eminem's career. Haters can not even try to say its a bad song. I think its arguably the best song ever.
So, do you think its his best song ever?

no, he fucked up 1 line. The concept is genius & the song is historical though.

Rock Bottom is the closet to perfect Eminem's song for me :b:

No. Maybe one of his most significant, but I could name plenty of songs by him I like way better

Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

No. Rock Bottom is Eminem's best song. Rhyming, flow, subject, emotion, imagery, the beat, the chorus... It's all there, executed perfectly. Nothing Eminem has ever done (or will do) comes close to the magic he's captured on this song.

Stan is on MMLP . . .

And no, I'd probably say its his 4th best song behind Rock Bottom, SFTM and Renegade

In my opinion it is probably his greatest song. Not my personal favourite but in overall terms of cultural impact, right place right time etc, i;d say it is his greatest to date.

Yeah that line confused me at first but what I think it meant was Stan hopes Em can't sleep or even if he does, he'll dream about it. Like either way, he can't escape from the guilt. Asleep or awake.

I just give stan more credit cuz it introduced a new ground of rap. Its like yknow a song like rock bottom has been made a lot of times by a lot of artists. The concept of stan is original.

lol no, it was a mistake. Em noticed it as well, that's why in his performance at the grammy he changed the lyrics from "can't sleep" to "go to sleep"

Nope. Sing for the moment is definitely his best to date. Without a shadow of doubt.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.
