Was there ANY controversy around Recovery?

Postby FreeSpeech » Dec 29th, '10, 23:02

I don't recall it recieving any negative media attention or causing any controversies.

SSLP: Controversial because it was so grounbreaking contentwise, 97 Bonnie and Clyde
MMLP: Kill You. 'Nuff said...
TES: Somewhat uncontroversial, but had White America and Cleaning Out My Closet (the video shows him burying his mom)
Encore: Mosh. We As Americans got him investigated by the Secret Service.
Relapse: Serial killer galore. We Made You got blown up by Bill O'Reilly. He gets raped hy his stepdad...
Recovery: ???

Maybe when they thought he encouraged domestic violence when LYWYL became a single, but I don't know if that counts

LTWYL had a bit of controversy with people saying it was promoting domestic violence. Oh and I remember some female reviewer complaining about Eminem saying he was being sexist on every track and all that.
Think that was about it though.

That does count

Plus I'm sure he pissed SOMEONE off somehow. Hate on women and some gay-bashing. But ultimately, I think Em purposefully tried to stay away from the shock value because it was played out

Does having no controversy mean that Recovery is less of an album?

If you just listen to Em for the controversy...well, you're listening for the wrong reasons. Like you're jumping on the Eminem bandwagon

No I never said that. I was just wondering if there were any majorcontroversies involving it came up. Everyone around here jumps to conclusions and freaks the second someone says something remotely "insulting" Eminem...
