Eminem needs inspiration...

Postby mcZu » Jan 1st, '11, 18:39

The previous thread got locked due to spamming, so here is version 2.0...

He needs something to rap about. OK, I'm not saying he should rap about politics per se, but he needs something to focus on whilst writing and crafting his songs. He needs to come up with some brilliant concepts.. Let's face it, he doesn't know what to rap about any more. The songs about Proof, his drugs problem, and Kim haven't been executed properly, plus he can't rap about those topics for the rest of his career.

His music just isn't relatable any more as it used to be. It seems, to me, that he lost his inspiration. He could rap about his current situation, rap about how difficult it is being a famous father to a teenage daughter. About his current situation with Kim, or any other woman he's dating for that matter. He could rap about the industry, about Hip Hop, about his fans.. There are endless possibilities.

I, seriously, fear the worst if he doesn't come up with something interesting to rap about. He has already declined to a certain level, and I don't want to see him fall off even more than he already has.

Nice, please don't spam this one too guys.

And on topic: Yeah, I completely agree, the "I'm back and I'm the best" and "corny punchlines" tracks are slowly but steadily starting to get old...

Yea it's a shame this thread had to get locked. Let's try and keep it on topic this time guys instead of arguing over whether Em smokes weed or not. Anyways, I'll just say what I posted before:

I totally agree. It's almost like he doesn't have anything to talk about anymore. Recovery was a terrific return to form in my opinion, but since that everything he has put out (except I Need A Doctor) has been devoid of much emotion. Even in Echo and Living Proof I think that he raps well in terms of lyricism and delivery, but I don't feel he reaches the emotion he was able to generate before. So he is kind of relying on rapid-fire spitting and punchlines. And although you can sit back and say "yea technically that was great", for me Em is at his best when he puts emotion and storytelling into his music and allows you to relate to what he is going through.

To be honest, as much as I love to hear new Em stuff I think he should stop with the features, especially those with people outside his camp. Jumping on other people's tracks is forcing him to rap about themes that he didn't necessarily come up with himself. He's out there spitting wack verses with Nicki Minaj cuz it's keeping him in the limelight but we're still seemingly a long way from a new D12 album. I'm starting to think a little break from Em stuff might do both us the fans and Em himself some good.

I'm glad there's a new thread on this.
His storytelling is what made me such a fan.

No, this thread would still be correct if he released Relapse 2. It would have been repeating the same stuff like he is now and would show that he had nothing to really rap about.

I loved Recovery but all these recent collabs are starting to get really boring cause it's the same shit over and over again. He need to take a break and think about ideas to rap about, rather than just doing the same 'haters hatin but i'm at the top' stuff.

I think Em needs to do a different project...whether its D12, another Re-Up type thing, Bad Meets Evil or just focus on helping Dre with Detox...

I know when I feel like I run out of stuff to write about, I usually work with other people, whether its a group album, duet EP, etc. You can really just have fun with that type of stuff instead of rapping like its a job...which I feel Em does sometimes. I mean of course its his job, but we all know we'd kill to have a job like that.

And then by the time I'm done doing something different, I'm ready to do my own thing again and its always great to do

Eh, really I think he's just having fun in these recent songs. He sounds like he is, whether or not you guys like it is up to you. I have no problem with any of his recent shit, really, but I will admit that his storytelling FAR EXCEEDS his punchline game. It would be nice to have different concepts and ideas, I'm sure he'll grow out of this soon

He changes during every album cycle. He's currently on his Recovery shit right now, so just let him ride it out and see where it takes him

Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

He needs to make his next CD sound like warning/Chemical Warfare....that's the sound I was expecting from Relapse2(Recovery)
