Eminem's wicked songs?

Postby FreeSpeech » Apr 14th, '11, 06:32

I know a lot of people say Relapse was "horrorcore", but to me it wasn't evil. Like, yes he was talking about killing bitches and whatnot, but he seemed more like a mischievious rascal than the spawn of Satan. 3AM, Same Song And Dance, Buffalo Bill, Music Box, and even Stay Wide Awake, while I love them, just don't feel genuinely wicked. My Darling is great horrorcore to me, fighting with the devil and trying to kill himself to get rid of his demons? That's far sicker that any other Relapse track. It's demented when you think about it, really scary shit.
These are my real evil, wicked eminem songs. To me, these are the songs where Em really let's the evil possess him and gets on another level of evil. I feel like he coulda sprouted some horns while recording these.

Devil's Night
Kim
American Psycho (but not 2)
My Darling (he's not the bad guy here, but it's still evil)

I don't know why, the beat sounds evil lol but the song is kinda funny .. so i don't think it's the type of song you describe so..

I'd go with Demons inside too.

How does anything on Relapse seem like a mischievous rascal trying to have fun?

-I never said he was trying to have fun, and it was an exaggeration anyways
-It's obvious he's not serious, Eminem is obviously not a serial killer. I love Relapse, but it just isn't scary to me because it's clearly fictional.
-Here's why I think the songs I listed are his scariest and most evil:
Devil's Night:Straight demonic, which to me is scarier than any serial killer ish.
Kim: Scariest song of his whole catalog, or anyone's really. People write it off as expression or anger release or whatever, but you know a part oh Em meant every word he said. The fact that the rhymes in it aren't real complex makes me think he kinda almost freestyled it and spit it straight from the heart, which is scary as hell.
American Psycho: Same as Devils Night...
My Darling: Explained in the OP
97 Bonnie and Clyde: So demented, it's a less scary version of Kim.

I don't think any of the songs is wicked or scary. You'll just have to look beyond to get the message he is putting into words and images - the more expressive the speech the better the image, the better the image, the clearer the message.

I think in "My Darling" he isn't really talking about a demon possessing him. He's talking about himself - about a part of himself. True everyone once felt that a part of his personality is making him choose and do thinks he/she doesn't want to in general? Like a need to do something, but you know you shouldn't. It's an ambivalent thing because the some part of you might make you lucky and save your ass sometimes. Nothing scary about that. Just human.
