Hypothetical Eminem Question

Postby One Mic » Jun 5th, '11, 21:55

If you had to make a decision right now, which one of these would you choose?

A.) Eminem retires from making new music today (Hell: The Sequel is the last official release) and there won't be ANY more new music from him. No singles, no guest collabs, no mixtapes, no EP's, nothing! ... this is it! but we get a 15 track compilation of unreleased songs from 1999-2002 as a final goodbye

B.) Eminem carries on making new music and being active for 6 or 7 more years, but those unreleased tracks from 1999-2002 are permanently deleted, and we will never get to hear them. They are the only unreleased tracks from that era.

Carries on, I don't want to live in the past. I want to see where he takes his music in the future after BME.

B. I'd rather 6-7 years of new material which could produce various classics than unreleased tracks which may not even be as good as expected.

^ So you're saying you would rather have a few more Relapse/Recovery type albums, than 15 tracks of Eminem in his prime?

Remember 'Stimulate' didn't officially make it on to an album. That is the kind of quality we are talking here, with those 15 tracks. Not Koolo's shitty leaks from 2006/07

Like other artists have mentioned, if you don't like the current himself, then pay him no mind and keep listening to his old shit, no one forces you to like something you don't want.

I'd rather have more current Em music than be dwelling on the past.

I personally love Hell: The Sequel, so if he improved on that, then yeah, I want him to go on with his career. If he rapped like he did on The Reunion, in that voice and with the same storytelling ability (obviously not the same story and lyrics) I think he could make some great music.

That's just me, I'm assuming you would rather his quit now and release the 15 track album? I personally don't agree.

Those 15 tracks are from 99 - 02, so it's almost impossible that even a single one of them wouldn't be a classic.
A without hesitation.

After "I Need A Doctor" I'd have gone with the former, but since HTS leaked... I'm really excited about future output from Em. He can still do this shit :worship: :y: So another 6 or 7 years of Em sounds great.

:y:

But honestly, there is enough evidence in recent years that he deep down still is an incredible rapper. It's just that he refuses to reinvent himself and move on from such childish and pathetic songwriting. Back in days you could actually feel his pain and inner demons when he rapped about "bitches", now it just seems like he mentally is some 13-year-old low life.

The reason why I still rather wanna have some unreleased material than some brand new is that I simply don't believe the genius will ever return. There has been released lots of brilliant hip hop albums in recent years but those don't seem to inspire him the slightest.

^This for sure.

Wanna see him continuing his career, running the game. Hopefully I'll never see a retired Em. I think he'll be still around in 15 years.

Yeah, I'd rather have option B, too. Stimulate was a beast of a track, but there's no guarantee all, or even any of the unreleased tracks are even close to that quality. I'd much rather have 7-8 years of more Em.

It's pretty surprising how many people believe that a lifeless 38-45 year old Eminem, who at this point has nothing to rap about anymore (we'll see if this changes), could actually produce a single song that is better than anything he's written in his prime.

Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to new Eminem and have (sooome) hope that he will give us one last good album, but there is no way in fuck that he can still write anything that touches his SSLP - TES stuff. MAYBE lyrically, but he just doesn't have that mentality anymore to match the wit, skill, flow, delivery he had back then.
Not possible.
And to think that he leaves the game and we never get to hear those unreleased tracks from his prime? I'd rather have 15 unheard classics any day.
