Southpaw has Director of "Training Day" Attached...

We heard about Southpaw months ago and that a script was to be written by Kurt Sutter.

Basically it'll be a boxing movie where Em plays an ex-champion boxer who falls, and in a rise back to victory needs to also earn the love back of his daughter. It's being used as a loose metaphor for the past seven years of his own life.

But that seemed a little bit dubious although somewhat official too.

Now, a director is attached and it's Antoine Fuqua - who directed Training Day. This is exciting news as, well, Training Day is fucking awesome. And well directed. Has a dark, realistic tone and, a good script but then a good director are obviously key to a good movie. So this is a lot more exciting now. I hope it's true.

Antoine Fuqua has the Tupac biopic that he's working on right now as well. I hope this doesn't affect that.

Fuqua is a great director. Brookyln's Finest as a good movie too. The movie he did with Wahlberg was good too.

With Kurt Sutter, Fuqua and the studio exec lady who's name I forget right now (who was appointed by Spielberg) behind this project, this will be a great movie, not for the popcorn fans though.

Em must really be hitting himself not taking up the role of Dicky on The Fighter. That turned out to be one of the films of the year and got Bale a deserved Oscar. Wouldn't surprise if that's what motivated him to pursue this role.

Been waiting to see Em act again for a long time now. I remember talk of a boxing movie a few years ago, and that never fully came together, so I hope it does this time around. Would love to see where his acting skills are in a role so different from himself.

Hope this happens, but this news means nothing. Films that are long announced usually get good director. Then the film takes too long and the director leaves. Repeat cycle

I think eminem is focusing on music. But this would be awesome if it happened

8 mile was well, but now I prefer him to stay focused on music ...
but this time the rumor seems to be true.

He will only be filming the movie in 2-3 months.
So he won't be away from music that long.
However, I think we will get a soundtrack for the movie and that should be good.
