When it comes to Fast Lane I actually love listening to it. The beat actually suits Ems delivery which I don't even like and makes it sound good. The flows are great and on point. I love the chorus and the atmosphere of the track in general.

BUT

Royce and Em spit more nonsensical filler than I've ever heard from either of them. Random rhymes to allow them to flow so well. I'm one of the people who think Em's wordplay is corny but even if you like it he didn't execute it well in this song at all. It wasn't even really wordplay. The soccer ball/ballistics punch and die/fuzzy dice punches exemplify this perfectly. (I'd say the danish Drake punchline but that was more of satire to set up the Nicki Minaj line in my opinion.) They don't make sense. No coherency. Royce did it also with the unicorn line and Jack C line. I know their lyricism is better on the other songs on the album (I haven't checked out but like 2 songs thoroughly) but this song had so much damn potential and these things spoiled it for me.

Well, keep in mind that this EP kinda just...happened. I'm sure he'll be able to slew just as many multies and just as good of a flow on Success Is Certain and with much more direction.

This track is basically just a fucking around track, saying some of the nuttiest crap without making sense.

It wasn't even a project at first though, most of the songs of the EP where done just for fun, who knows, maybe Fast Lane was one of them.

Honestly, I loved that unicorn line. He didn't spit one weak punchline here IMO. His flow and his rhyming is what makes me praise his verses so much. His rhyming was incredible and so natural. His flow is always on-point but he went insane with it on this song. Especially in the last part of his 2nd verse when he goes double time.

Also, I feel like Royce was not fucking around when he made this song. Royce usually fucks around, I mean, his verses turn out dope all the same but you can tell that he messes around in his delivery and some of the lines. When he wrote this song, I think he was taking it seriously despite the video. His tone of voice just seemed very focused. In Second Place, you can tell that he's just being the Royce we all know and love.

Royce did it also with the unicorn line.

That line ties in with the slapping up a cop and stealing his clothes line. Why? Because after those set of lines he explained comically how he would hang a cop by his balls from the horn of a unicorn. So, it's not random filler, it fits in with what he was trying to say.
