EMINEM’S headline appearance at Bangor’s Ward Park this summer has triggered an angry backlash.
A campaign to keep the ‘Real Slim Shady’ from taking to the stage is gathering pace and will be taken to Bangor Town Hall next Tuesday.
And in a further twist his August 24th appearance will clash with this year’s Bangor Missionary Convention which celebrates its 75th anniversary just yards from the Tennent’s Vital set.
Campaigner Brian Ashworth, who claims to be representing scores of objectors, will urge North Down Borough Council to turn down Tennent’s Vital’s application for an entertainment licence.
He is urging others to turn up and show their objection at Bangor Town Hall this Tuesday night (7.30pm) where he will be granted a 10 minute deputation.
The Conlig man takes issue with the US rapper’s explicit lyrics which often carry parental warnings.
Previous posters have featured Eminem posing with a chainsaw and wearing a hockey mask.
Mr Ashworth claims the nature of his act breaches a CPVA council policy which protects the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
“His lyrics are riddled with foul language, four letter words and references to sex, drugs, violence, murder, suicide, guns and prostitution,” Mr Ashworth told the Spectator.
