From Murder, Murder:
"Wasn't me! It was the gangsta rap and the peppermint schnapps"
After all the actions he's just done in the song in such a calm way, he sums it up with a single line like that - it's intentionally ridiculous and is such a clever dig at people who blame things like rap music for crime, violence etc. It's pretty much is the epitomie of why Em was so great then - using humour as a veil for social commentary. That line sort of links back to:
But I ain't set to flee the scene of the crime just yet/Cuz I got a daughter to feed/And $200 ain't enough to water the seed
Because of the situation he was in, Em is obviously quite aware that people do commit crimes for serious reasons, and, linking it to the end line, shows people are quick to blame outside products, such as music, but perhaps don't look at serious reasons such as poverty.
Such a neat social comment summed up in an hilarious entertaining story.
Reminds me of this line in If I Get Locked Up Tonight:
You critics wanna criticize but couldn't visualize individuals lives through a criminal's eyes
To have that kind of line (among others) in such a comedic song is so well done, and goes unnoticed a lot of the time.
Genius, genius, genius.
