So are all the space bound song interpretations gone now?

Postby XRelapseX » Jun 25th, '11, 23:29

You know the whole interpretation that he wasn't just talking about a girl, but rather his drug addiction, the 2nd verse really symbolizes this. so anyone upset that this song is just another song talking about a female rather than his drug addiction which would have been. much of a better music video...now its just another "kim" song....easily

Amadeo wrote:Taking the video literally would just be silly. It's CLEARLY meant to be artsy/fartsy and symbolic of something.

There are TWO Eminems walking around. And the woman he is "choking" vanishes into thin air...suggesting she was never there in the first place.

Anyone who applies a strictly literal interpretation may as well literally interpret the Not Afraid video:

Yeah, Eminem is just chilling out in the basement for a while, then he crosses a busy road without looking for cars because he wants to get to the curry parlor on the other side of the road...then he looks at himself in about 30 different mirrors because he's worried that he might have pimples.

Yes but the story remains the same. The story that is being told in the song is still the same story. My point was that it's clearly still about a male / female relationship, where he catches the female cheating and chokes her to death, then commits suicide.

Everything else is an addition to the story, it doesn't change the narrative though. It just adds dimensions. So, the other Em is most likely his conscience or alter-ego and the fact the woman isn't there and it rewinds suggests it was fantasy.

I think that was partially done to get it played on TV. As it suggests what you just saw didn't really happen and was possibly a dream / in his head. Which makes it less offensive than implying it's literally happening in real-world. So maybe they tried to artistically 'trick' MTV.

But that's a point of a video, it's supposed to elevate it and add to it, or you may as well not have a video. Obviously there's metaphors and ambiguities alluring to themes and suggesting ideas, and little aesthetic touches. That's just a good video. But the narrative remains.

Basically em got picked up by a pornstar and never said a word to her, they went to a bar still never saying a word then the pornstar went to the bathroom and em looked at her phone. They went back to the pornstars house and she disappeared so em was apperently breaking and entering a strangers house. Knowing he would face charges he took the easy way out by shooting himself. The moral of the story never get picked up by a pornstar.

I need explanation for this :

there are a couple of things that I don't understand in the video ...

**in the minute 3.07 he opens the door and look out ,and then turns angry , but there is nothing outside....

** and in the minute 3.42 ...why he falls out the window?? I mean ,he was sitting far from the window

Because he heard a noise coming from outside and when he saw someone stealing the car,he became angry because he was tired of walking, then he pours his anger on the girl,
because she left the keys inside the car.

** and in the minute 3.42 ...why he falls out the window?? I mean ,he was sitting far from the window

And I also think it's the bar owner who thrown him out the window
but because he doesn't want that Eminem stain the ground with his blood.

For the rest I don't know yet...
