Favourite Transistion From Skit To Song?

Postby MikeNUFC » Jun 29th, '11, 12:43

For me it's Paul > If I Had from SSLP.

The way the skit ends on "Because there's only so much I can explain" is so perfect - Paul can't explain all the outlandish shit Em says on the album. But he doesn't need to, as Em comes in, explaining how completely and utterly fucked up his life is - to make it out of this life, he's been forced to come out with this crazy slim shady character to get noticed (after Infinite failed).

The transisiton's a bit of a jab at people who criticised his content ("tired of people saying they're tired of hearing me rap about drugs"), shows how a lot of people won't 'get' it and 'explains' what the album is about - using this humour/outlandish content as a veil for his problems.

What about you? <333 xx

Ah yeah that's a great one.

The repetition with all the different voices is pretty haunting.

I've seen all the suggestions and posts in this thread and it made me realise that most of them are really good. I'm trying to think of bad ones now.

My fav would have to be Tonya to Stay Wide Awake though, and Relapse is my most disliked Eminem album. Just works so well, and adds another dimension to the track, and kinda makes it more realistic in a way.

Tonya > Same Song & Dance.

One of the most haunting, brilliant transitions I have ever heard.
...The mortician of love, sent from above
Forced entry, the more wenchy, the more stingy I become
Been doing this for more than a quarter century, I'm just numb...

Mr. Mathers to Deja Vu & Steve Berman to Way I Am. MM's scenario sets the mood for the entire track, it makes it feel like he's recapping the sad situation as he's laying on his cold bathroom floor, on the verge of death & apathetic. As for Steve Berman, listening to Em get bullied and then ventilate the previously sustained rage into the mic is just perfect.
