25 to life

Postby Jimmy Conway » Jul 17th, '11, 15:11

I'm known as someone who strongly dislikes Recovery. And that is still true. It will never grow on me. I feel the same as I always have about it(well, the first two weeks I tried to convince myself that it was the best album ever) but there are two gems on this album. Almost Famous and 25 to life.

I think this song is underrated. It would probably be in my top five post MMLP Eminem songs. The beat is great, the chorus fits well and eminem actually has some structure. He's not just yelling and ranting about nothing. He is talking about something with some passion and purpose.

Perfect song.

I wouldn't say it's underrated. Most people on here love it, and even with mainstream fans, it's one of the most popular non-single tracks along with Cinderella Man and Won't Back Down.

But yes, I think it's a great song.

Its definately one his best story telling tracks of all time, i bet every single one of us thought it was about another girl, when it was actually about Hip Hop :)

First I always skipped the song cuz I thought it was yet another "SHUT UP BITCH" song, but then I lisned to it once and liked it.
But never listed to it again.
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Yeah.....because it's a TOTALLY new concept of song that NO OTHER rapper has done before. Hats off to Eminem on this one for being SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO creative and original. That shot, nasally voice and choppy/Love The Way You Lie-esque delivery are the icing on the cake. :coffee:

Pretty good track really..
To be fair, I think it's one of the well constructed songs on Recovery.
Definitely could have been improved by a massive amount.

Your point being?

2pac did Dear Mama on 1995, great song. Nas did Dance in 2002, great song. Kanye West did Hey Mama almost a decade after 2pac's Dear Mama, great song. The fuck if someone has done something similar before. Your argument is laughable to say the least.

25 to Life is flawless. Significant theme, perfect execution, the best female hook Em has had, and a beat that suits the song and grows until it reaches a climax.
