Eminem and Interscope Records

Postby Omerta » Aug 3rd, '11, 04:23

do you think they've brought out the best in eminem?

i'm just doing an elective study in class and it's about the music biz, and i've decided to do it on interscope records, and being a big hip hop fan decided to obviously place eminem in quite a bit of it because he has a big part to play in that label's success.

doing the research, especially in the recent years of their control of eminem. that they were very unhappy with relapse and pushed eminem to a more broader sound which resulted in recovery. which is very similar to all the artists they hold, in particular hip hop. i mean i know most labels work this way, but their treatment and control over their artists is something else. the game situation in the last 3 years and the 50 cent situation right now is perfect examples of this.

whilst doing the search, i stumbled upon this song, and as an eminem fan it got me sure he would have been better off elsewhere.

Smile nigga my next album might be my last
Got what I came to get, the stacks and the stash
I told Jimmy Iovine ass to shut the fuck up
Got Dre callin' Shady sayin Em what's up?
We done came this far, we can't stop now
Em, 50 off the hook, he got to calm down
I guess I'm out of control, my mind, body and soul
Tell me I'm bein pimped and it's makin me sick
You know Em made that company over a billion dollars
And when he ain't around they sayin foul shit about him
Yeah we fucked up, we both don't know our pops
We both don't like the cops, we don't know when to stop
You know Kim is Shaniqua and Hailey is Marquise
D-12's G-Unit and we always in beef
Ja and Fred Durst, both of them jerks
Got put out the game, ha, ha, ya lames!
Paul's Chris Lighty, Tracy's Nicki Martin
Boxes of ox, sarge is a Glock
My nine is twenty four seven on watch

50 killed that song!
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

pause at the putting out comment ! ! !

he was an asshole? how so, because he was having personal and drug problems? if i made someone or my company a billion dollars, the least id expect is when i was in need of some help is some support. rather than support em, they talked shit about him and made him do some things he should never have done - like the re up album (which em said was a mixtape, i wonder who made him make it an album..hmmmmm).

is it true he was also forced into doing that award show performance where he came out with busta and them?

I'm sure Eminem would've have left by now if he was unhappy with Interscope. Every single record label out there would die to have him. Seems like every artist on Interscope are very successful (especially WORLDWIDE and not just in the US). I mean look at Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas.

every artist? you have just named the big ones and successful ones, of course not everyone over there is that successful, that's like me saying everyone on def jam is successful by using kanye west and rihanna as an example, when there's so many other struggling there. eminem probably has a big contract there and is too loyal bcoz there is no doubting he has been treated like shit at interscope
