The Beats Em Raps Over

Postby EminemBase » Aug 19th, '11, 01:16

I'm just listening to Big Boi's "You Ain't No DJ" and when I step back and just realize how weird and unique this beat is... and how Big Boi, and OutKast and other innovative greats always seem to try to make everything big and new on every front...

It's such a fucking shame the beats Em is rapping over now. You would think given the kind of artist that he is and the mind that he has, that he'd be just as interested in making a new SOUND in hip hop as new rhyme formations or puns.

It's so annoying that he doesn't care about it more and is happy to just rap over generic shitty beats. They're wasting his vocals and ideas, he could do so much more. And it's not just 'beats', why not try and fucking make weird and original hip hop on every front, I don't just mean grab a funky beat - but work hard and focus on the melodies and sounds, make it NEW.

Maybe / hopefully Yela and Kanye will inspire him.

I think ESPECIALLY Kanye would help with that, but who knows whether they'll work together.

I don't want Em over Kanye beats. I want Kanye to inspire Em.

Hopefully My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will make Em realize there's more to this than puns and emotion. Get him thinking bigger.

I want Em to produce his own music. He's absolutely at his best when he does that. And matches the melody to his flows. He'll never get near TES again unless he does that. He's his own best producer as he can match music to thoughts, enough of other people's beats now.

And "Merry Go Round" proves he can still go in new directions and is much more versatile a producer than many think. If he produced his next album by himself that'd be awesome.

The thing is, I don't believe Eminem has the mindset to do that.(From what we know as of right now, for all we know he could have the most unique album ever in this vault). But now adays Eminem isn't thinking of being revolutionary or taking what other people do and making it better, he's just trying to put out music people will like and redeem half of his career he spent out of the game.

I was also thinking that the success and critical acclaim of MBDTWF would inspire Em to get back into production and really create a signature sound again. The beats on TES are all complimented his style so well. He really was very specific in production...you can even listen to other songs he produced, say 'Moment Of Clarity' by Jay-Z, and it just sounds SO reminiscent of TES. He actually did have his own sound in his beats.

Recovery, on the other hand, has scattered production from many producers and no real signature sound. It's more of a collection of good songs from a certain time period and rapping style, rather than a collection of good songs with a signature sound to form a flowing, cohesive album.

If he can be innovative and come up with new beats and styles to match his current rapping style, he could really push the genre. His perfectionism for TES really paid off. The album is pretty much flawless, to me. It'd be great to see one more flawless, timeless album from Eminem.

EmBase, why do you constantly have to bash the production that Eminem has rapped over since releasing Recovery? We all already know your "opinion" on the production he's rapped over on Recovery and after. I don't see the need to keep complaining about it. The way I feel about it is if you don't like it then just don't listen to it, ok enough of my little rant. I do want to see Eminem start producing more of his own songs. If he does, we will end up seeing another classic album right after Recovery. I want to see how far he's come since his production in TES, which was great. But truthfully, I would love to see Kanye produce an Eminem album. I feel like he would definitely give Eminem that NEW sound that you want to hear. But it seems like that's a dream that will never come true.

Thing is though, even if BME was just something they were doing just for fun, why didn't Em produce 'just for fun'? Maybe he did, but I wonder. I hope he does produce his next.

I thought Untitled was a quirky song/beat/sound, and I liked the beat/sound/song too.

I thought I read that Em is producing two of the songs on Yelawolf's album, including the track on which he is featured. That should be interesting if it's true.

Eminem never produced Merry Go Round.

Eminem likes Kanye and Yelawolf... but is more "inspired" by Slaughterhouse and Young Money. Unfortunately, with the people around him artistically (Royce, Mr Porter, Alchemist, Rosenburg, Dre sort of) i dont see the "new sound" coming soon and it is depressing.

That's the need of the hour man,all these years listening to old school raps makes me feel that he should flow on those beats ,so i would one day go withfor Dre & Preemo for a complete album.
