Only the artist himself knows what he wants. That's why rappers need to learn to be their own producers, even if you're not on a stellar-Kanye level.

Those songs are produced by Dre not Em.

+ Stay Wide Awake and Same Song & Dance
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Agreed. If Em produces his next album, it should be amazing.

Of course. Always said this.

It's because his flows are always melodic and not that many hip-hop producers create truly original melodies beneath their beats. It's often just samples or drum loops but...

If you think of classic Em beats like "The Way I Am" or "Cleanin' Out My Closet", the TUNE, the melody instantly pops in your head, and the rap goes with it.

So he's absolutely the best one to match music to his raps. Not only that, I just think his beats sound quality... so many beats he's been rapping over lately sound cheap and clangy like there's too much going on but no real distinctive music or melody in the beat, it's just thumping or noise...

I love how much he uses keyboards / piano, and the beats are always dark and original.

If he had produced Recovery, same songs / lyrics, I think it could have been a classic.

well as far as lyrics and beats go, I'd say shit like "Hello" was definitly better produced than if he had done it, but for the most part yes, the songs em usually makes himself are the better ones of the bunch

It's the only beat he produced by himself on there.

But just like with The Slim Shady LP, he co-produced many tracks, with the Bass Bros.

To be honest, people often don't credit him with having produced tracks or even having been involved when, he probably had a lot to do with the construction of the sound, like on "Criminal"...

But then, with like Dre... he has a studio of musicians and other producers all making a beat and he'll like, add something or fine tune it and it's suddenly 'A Dre beat'.

Em said he had a lot to do with the production on The Slim Shady and The Marshall Mathers LP.

Aside from the Production he done on his own Albums he has done a lotta great Production for the Rappers on his record label a lotta great Produced Albums Cheers, Second Rounds On Me, The Msassacre, The Re Up the only Album that didn't live up to the usual great Production he does was Loyal To The Game but that had it's classic Production too on tracks like like Runnin and Ghetto Gospel. In his prime as a Producer from 2000 - 2005 he was a top 10 Producer taking into account the amount of really big Hit Singles he Produced so far and how acclaimed the Albums he Produced were.
