Would Em be considered the greatest Rapper ever

Postby Aftermathers » Jan 15th, '12, 22:04

By more people than he already which is alot to be fair but if he didn't have the gimmicky silly Slim Shady persona Songs and just had Emotional/Deep Songs in his catalouge of Albums the Songs that we all relate to and love from Em then i think he really would be considered the greatest Rapper ever by more people. i don't think there is anyone with the exception of 2pac that could make Emotional/Deep Songs as well as Eminem you can't feel the Emotion and Pain in other Rappers Music aside from 2pac like you can with Eminem that's what seperates him from the rest that you can feel his Music and what he saying in the Lyrics from the verses to the Hooks but just The Slim Shady Gimmick he ran with is the only downfall on Albums like Relapse and Bad Meets Evil EP and Songs like Big Weenie.

I do think you have to be a stan to defend Songs like Big Weenie though i mean even Em knew Slim Shady is a Gimmick and the core Hip Hip community wether listeners, Rappers, DJs etc don't respect that kinda shock value.

He's the greatest because he can do the most things well.

That aside, nobody touches his first three classics.

Obviously there are tons of other rap classics in history that are all up there, but, nothing by Jay-Z or Nas or 2Pac or many other legendary mainstream rappers I can think of tops his first three.

I think he's taken the craft to greater heights than many and pushed the envelope.

The Marshall Mathers LP is a truly unique album, in MUSIC, full stop. Masterpiece.

Don't respect that kinda shock value? Wtf...

Well the average Hip Hop fan critisizes Slim Shady alias and in general hates Shock Rap aka Slim Shady style Rapping about crazy things like serial killing, rape, mother hatered etc but respects Music about life that most relate to that Eminem makes Songs like Rock Bottom, If I Had, Sing For The Moment, 8 Mile Road, Mockingbird, Hailie's Song, Not Afraid etc.

Eminem = Deep/Emotional/Thoughtful Lyrics and great Artist that Produces and Sings/Rap's about life and experiences we all go through basically pur Hip Hop

Slim Shady Alter Ego = Shock Value and gimmicky that Rap's about crazy things sometimes really silly

Well 2pac is the closest there is to Eminem as far as making Music that touches people on an emotional level makes the listener connect to the Music i would say predominantly people from the black community since that was 2pac's purpose where as Eminem connects with a wider range of demographics as far as people that can connect to his Music. Both very much Rapped about a lotta very similar Topics and struggles though. But Em is a better Artist than 2pac since Em actually Sings too and Sings most of his Hooks where as 2pac relied heavily on Vocalists and Singers to feature on most his Songs to do the Hooks and Em was more Personal and Emotional than 2pac but both very similar in the type of MUsic they made.

You are right about The Marshall Mathers LP however The Eminem Show>>>>The Marshall Mathers LP. The Eminem Show is his best Album so far Musically, Lyrically, Artistically and Production wise.

The only way Em would be (unanimously) considered the greatest rapper of all time would be if he died after 8 Mile. Apparently, you can't be the greatest until you're dead :shakehead:

The Eminem Show is his best album musically and lyrically.

But not artistically. The Marshall Mathers LP is by far his greatest artistic achievement.

Lately, I've realized that none of Eminem's albums has any sense of sequencing. This factor ruins the whole listening experience for me. He can't be the greatest when he doesn't know how to put a great album together.

False.

No, my opinion is not "false". It's my opinion.
There's so many artists you can say the exact same thing about. You're saying that Em is the only one, and thus he is "the greatest".

But even with that aside, you're wrong. Because there's types of songs Eminem hasn't made. For instance what if I want a happy song, like Sunshine by Atmosphere? Or what if I want some crazy chopping shit like Tech N9ne?

There's plenty of things that are missing from Em's catalog. It's just easier to see what isn't missing, because pointing out something that doesn't exist is a lot more difficult than pointing out something that does.

Also, this:

isn't an opinion.

This is.
