But...

If Proof was still alive and with Em do you think Em would have worked as closely as he did with Lil Wayne/Rihanna? I.e big artists of the moment. Personally I'd like to think that Proof would have been against Em getting on a track with a bubblegum rapper like Wayne. Maybe that's just wishful thinking but I reckon Proof would have kept Em more hardcore hip-hop and less mainstream 'do it for the music video' kinda shit.

Yay, another person subliminally complaining about who Eminem works with...and Proof died in 2006. That's plenty of time for Em to mature and to want to reach out to other artists. This is an insane question though, we have no way of knowing what would have happened.

Yes a person can influence another person in a strong way, but I think Em' would of came to his senses and stopped the drugs even if Proof was still alive.

It's hard to tell, life was already really stressful during 2003-2006 for Em' mentally anyway.

He got into drugs badly in 2005, so that was already strike one, you could tell in his track When I'm Gone that he was messed up, but he kept doing the drugs in '06 when Proof was alive.

So there's only a short gap between when he OD'd in '07 and early '06 when Proof was alive, so he would of OD'd even if Proof was alive because of the short gap.
Thus, nothing would really be different, maybe Em' would joke around more often then he does now in the studio and D12 probably would have another album, but I still see Em' working with Wayne and such, plus Em' said that he was gonna diss a few rappers in '07 but backed out, he probably would of went through with it if Proof was still alive on account of Em' being a bit more happy and silly.

Around late '07-'09 it was official, he basically just said fuck it and just worked with anyone he could find and spread his horizons.

Plus, I think it's better that Em' doesn't beef anymore, there's been countless times Em' cheated death.

Stop acting like Em should be above these collabs. Em was promoted for the mainstream since SSLP. Rihanna's worked with lots of rappers (Jay-Z, Kanye, TI) and she fit the message of the track. I don't know much about Lil Wayne but he was begging to work with Em so he did it, big deal. Em's said many times he doesn't care about the business and money side of things so of course Paul handles it. They've been together for almost 20 years and Em's career has rarely faltered so they're doing something right. Would Proof have made a difference? Probably not he most likely would have just told him if his verse was up to par or not.

I think if Proof was still alive Em would be dead / still in Encore phase. Let's face it, he had an addiction. Proof's death made it worse, but ultimately made him get sober. If Proof was alive I bet they'd still be smoking, popping pills and drinking at the same pace they were for the Encore era. To me it seems like one of Proof or Eminem had to die.

Which is awful to think about 'cause I really miss Proof.

I agree, because Proof was around during Encore. So really, would it have changed? Who knows, maybe Proof was trying to get him sober behind the scenes, we don't know. We're just the fans so we have NO idea what went down during those days up to Proof's murder. Hell, all of D12 probably tried.
