I think he was and can still be the most complete rapper ever, looking at his discography, but musician is a whole 'nother realm. Given that he comes from a hugely under-appreciated and essentially frowned upon genre that is rap, you could argue he definitely had to do a lot more for that worldwide musical recognition.

I don't know though. He's my favourite artist, so fuck if he's the most complete artist ever, as long as he appeals to me.

You are not specifying this "most complete artist" statement for any specific genré, correct? What it all boils down to, though, is how you look at it, and what you prefer. Em isn't the only artist out there who create the music & write the lyrics. Em has also gone through a lot of ups and downs in this past decade.

As far as singer/song writers, I'd go with Beatles. As far as singer/performers, I'd go with Elvis Presley.

You really can compare across genres, it is a hard thing to do. I'd say he is the King of Rap and that is where I'll leave it. There hasn't and will never be a King of Music, only genres.

What the fuck, why especially me? I shared my opinion and now I'm getting shit for it. I said that I'm not denying their influence or how "complete" they are. I'm just not into their music. Christ. Never said they sucked or weren't good artists or anything.
